Here are some quick hands for the folks who did mine. Ha. And it's cool, ian. I have a lot of variations in the letters I use for my name. I usually write "heckler" when I'm doing a lowercase style. But HEKLE, HEKLER, HEKL, HECKLE are common uses, too. Threw a zewl page in for the fun of it and to show how our styles differ. But hey, Zewl has a dope style and I'm certain we both developed our styles independently, so if people think mine looks like his, I'll gladly accept. We grimey. Just did a bunch of hands of the last people on the board. Some first tries.
Satko- You need to get rid of all of that dead space. Give your letters solid, consistent forms first.
SVC- Stop right there... Ector? Shit is way too complicated and formless. Take a few steps back and study some street handstyles. Find hands that are simple, but still stand out to you. Try to make styles like that at first. Emulate, don't bite.
Jypsy- same advice. Just calm down and do this slowly. Make your letters strong above anything else.
Sick- Does that say Werm? The first letter(s?) is a little confusing, so work on that a bit, but I really like this style. The bottom of the e looks a little off, but try this out with some chisels and see if that brings out some motion in this. Might look awesome.

SIR- Don't get too crazy with add ons just yet. Add ons should be used sparingly. It seems like you're compensating for sub-par lettering. Work on making your letters strong before putting anything else on the page. Just write SIR and nothing else.
As far as your letters go, balance is a crucial element to a good hand. Doin some handstyles on graph (or lined paper if you have no graph paper) paper and keep your letters the same width and height. You might want to work on letters individually too. Your first S has some flow, minus the top extension reaching up. Keep at it.

Testing: looks like gannas, i liked it initially, but then i noticed the A's and the loopy S, which detracted it, make the letters more unifom i guess.
citizen- the roman numeral thing could be sick if u pulled it off with the C and the N as well
Sir- I agree that a name change might suit you, just find letters you can work with better.

wow, bro. that's bad. you need to practice your flow. in other words, practice being uniform with your hands.
make sure all of your letters are leaning in the same direction, 'cause your l and a are leaning against rather than with each other.
also, your h is too small, while your s buttfucks it. now having small letters is alright at times, but you misused the technique. a big c, bigger l, small a, big and wide s, and a small and skinny h. the way it's composed is awkward. keep at it though, mah' *****'.


And I'm not even get on a high horse and act like my hands are the sickest, 'cause I'm still practicing my flow too.

But what I've learned over my 2years is letters in a hand shouldn't take too much space (Like your S), they should be relatively the same height and width. There are exceptions to this however. Those are the starting letter, and the ending letter. these can be wider than the rest, but they should remain the same length as the rest of the letters.

pointman, i think you are trying to force it, when you put more than one hand on a piece of paper, switch up atleast one letter each time. try different letter styles, you'll progress quicker and will be able to piece something together from different letters from different hands and come up with something nice. just think how much you could tweak your handstyle if you had 5 different sheets of papers with not one identical handstyle on them. keep at it my man

nice idea for the 2nd one, bring the S closer to the E though, and angle that O and E more to mirror the P and E if you get what I'm sayin. The PE look nice, the S would be good if it was down a tad and to the left so the bottom was touching the E, and then do the same with the O and E as you did with the PE. Maybe start the O at the bottom so that pointed part is at the bottom and its just a curve at the top if you get what im sayin

what up homie, some advice my old heads gave me was to stay in the books until your ready, i had my name but i drew up a least 12 alphabets a day just to get all the letters down.... and i made sure all my letters can stand alone. this might look a little better if you didnt put the line jawnske at the bottem of the "A" and the "E" , just make your letters flow and dont write where people sit hahah

SLERP you need to make the letters flow a little better and those balloon lookin things make it look even worse, i also dont think the line coming off the "P" is needed, maybe just do a line thats not connected to anything but if you have a solid hand it should be able to stand on its own

Slerp- Keep the "s" without the swirl, shorten the bottom leg of the "L".
Brer- I get the general idea, but it doesn't flow well.

I'm just not feeling any flow at all... Don't worry about any underlines or anything until you can write it where it looks good without anything other than letters. The structure of your S is off. Use all uppercase or all lowercase for now. If you have not seen this already, I'd suggest you check it out, it helped me when I wrote my first tag and it looked wack:

Also, what I did was I worked on my letters before I worked on spacing. Once I got the letters looking more like the way I wanted, I started writing them over top one another. Then I was really critical of myself and asked myself: "Does it flow at all?"

C'mon breh, if that video is what your basing your graff on then your a fuckin tard. that ***** says don't put style into all the letters, wtf is that shit? And then he says oh make the last letter hella big and your tag will look good...lol. i guess if you literally never picked up a spray can or pen that that vid could be somewhat informational, but to listen and do everything that that dude says would be foolish

I know that, I never said do everything he says to do. Use it as a starting point... I don't base my stuff on that. I just found it helpful when I first started (and yes, I had never picked up a pen other than for school or can at that point). Any crits on my tag? I'm completely new to this so I'm trying to find out why it doesn't flow. Should I just scrap it and go back to the beginning?

bottom of your B has a little cursive line too it, take that out. The way you have the tops of all your letters with that point going to the right also looks weird, and they are the reason why your letters dont "flow". The way you distorted the letters natural shape is why theres no longer "flow".

Like anything when you start writing, go simple(like bottom one) and then slowly add style to the letters but make sure they still look like letters. Obviously after you write you find your style and write the word that way 1000 times there wont be any impurities...shits not gonna just look good, you gotta make it look good

Next time your being lazy and watching the talking box machine grab a pen and paper, and write all the words you hear down in a certain style...ees goood practice fo me, and, and, may help you.
