i think what a ton of these toys are missing is flow in their letters... they see a few letters different places they like and try to put 'em together... it wont work. idk how to help, but try not to make each letter its own choppy letter, and think about how the letters ALL are together. i'll try to upload a pic of some examples on names that are on here recently. these helping pics are more for credits, so don't think im trying to sound preachy haha

googie you should definitely use pens and markers instead but as far as your letters go the N is pretty nice but you should make the 2 right most bars in a single line. Bs and Ms are workable, scrap the rest.

Big black and ugly tags on virgin white walls is just distasteful vandalism, and the fact that it's far from good graffiti makes it even better. No argument can be made that it is art, it's just damage, which i like. Keep at it toga, but you might want to paint sewers and shit for a while.

MN, I would say, make your letters more proportionate to each other, and stay on the same level the whole time. The level thing is also caused by non proportionate letters, see how your first two letters are on the same level, then because of your letters becoming like 2 fonts bigger, they're on a lower level for the last two.

So... i've always loved looking at graffiti in my hometown and on trains passing through from other places but I never gave it a shot. After watching the "Exit Through the Gift Shop" (a Banksy/street art/some graffiti) documentary on Netflix, I started looking up graff sites. I'm now pretty interested in this craft and culture, and would like to give it a shot.

I've never had a nickname, so i'm still trying to decide on that. These are my first "tags" ever, and they're absolutely horrible. Everything about them is bad: letter structure, flow, and proportions....

Leefx, finding an original name is tough. I've gone through like 4 in the past 2 weeks. Don't try to make your first tags flow so much. Kinda sketch it out. Don't make them too big in the begining. Keep working on it man! We're here for help and support.

Knowthelegde - No doubt you have a talent for tags. Keep that shit up. Maybe you could get that K a tad bit bigger, so it doesn't look as cramped. The right side of your M needs fixing too. Maybe kinda do like the Left side of it. The bend makes the letter look awkward.

Ohh and. Pick what you're going to roll with Arketeck or Muke. (IMO You're gonna be able to do more with Muke, as it is shorter and more original.)

Do you guys know why Knowtheledge is pretty good at tags? Its because he probably took time with his work. If you want to improve your tag skills, fill up two notebooks with tags, alphabets, different words, whatever. Just fucking WRITE. Don't post something unless a) you're happy with what you got or b) are working on something and want some crits from other people. And don't take opinions from people that don't write. You can show them a garbage tag and an even worse piece and they'll say its cool or you rock. I'm guessing most of you are young, so get out and explore places, meet other writers, get inspired damn it. I fortunately have a friend whose got the hook up with some other writers in St. Paul and I've been kicking it with them. Take note, I'm just trying to help. Peace.

You in SF? Can't tell what the first letter is really, I'm gonna assume it's a T. Work on that. The I needs work too. F to E connect works and looks good, but your other connects are boring and predictable. Just get creative with them and dont be afraid to experiment with new ideas.

@Hapa- Mmm...Like to actually see that properly sprayed to see if you could get the sharp edges like a caligraphy marker does. I know you can use caligraphy caps but surely you wouldn't want to always use them.

For me I'd change the style so it wasn't all straight with sharp edges cause usually tags have a flow to em.

Hapa, good to see you are starting SIMPLE (unlike 70% of the toys..) but i agree with syn, it looks like you crossed your self out mate, H is an easy letter, make the bars just a bit bent or one a bit longer than the other, A is just like an H but closed at the top.. P you get to work on on your own ;).

EDIT: And make sure your bars all go the same direction!!
