i would suggest working with all letters hten using what your best at and making something out of it.

Thanks :) Any criticism is good. Yeah I've been doing the tail of the K longer now so that it sits under the A. Makes it more interesting I think. I've also been doing a heart at the end, the same size as the letters, which I think makes it look more feminine. I'll have to post another pic sometime.

so this is directed to everyone just starting out with their tag.


flow is the way your letters
1.) work together (to create emotion and movement) (AKA style)
2.) look aestetically (also style)
3.) fit together (to block out white space)

as stupid as it might sound to you, graffiti is about bringing life to the letters. i can almost garuntee that if you ask a good writer what their or someone elses letters are doing, they can tell you. as a writer you bring the plain letter of your keyboard, to emotion, and movement.

ex. who here has seen State Your Name? skuff talks about his throw and comments how his "S" is "leaning back and kicking."

every begining writer (myself included when i started&#33;) doesnt yet know how to add feeling, motion or emotion (the first part of flow.) but he (or she) feels the need to make the letters signifigantly different from normal letters, so he elliminates all curves at angles and uses hard angles. this is counterproductive, and its amazing how EVERYONE does this at first. u want curves, without out them, it looks harsh to the eye.

looks like it would take a long time to do, you should simplify it, do that until you can do it fast and good, then add more things (if it makes it look better) because you dont have to have a super complicated tag. A lot of the time the most simple tags look the best.

I&#39;d agree with defining your letters more. Make the o and d there own letters. As far as your style, I think it&#39;s pretty good. Just try a separate d. Make it capital if you have to, just experiment with writing it different ways, to get all your letters in.
Oh, and that&#39;s supposed to be an e on the end? Looks like an r to me. You do know what an e looks like right? And yes, I know the swoop is supposed to be the bottom of the e, but it&#39;s way to far out. If you want to keep that, bring it up more, becuase It looks like an attempted underline.

I think it&#39;s good to have definition, but BETTER to have flow, and that Code tag has nice flow. I might even add a bit to it.. a doo dad or add on. Just a suggestion. Mybe an exclamation point.

I have to disagree there. Flow is a huge part of being a good writer, but the challenge is to make it flow, spelling out thre tag completely. Taking short cuts to improve your flow isn&#39;t what being a good writer is. A good writer makes there tag, with all of the letters, flow.

To me when the letters aren&#39;t definable it becomes more of a symbol than a word. Like someone on here said before using a symbol stops people talking about you.

yah, the second one was done on metal, the others were crap cause 1. they were on cement and the marker didnt move to well and 2. the paint was runnin out in the can. but the 2nd one, the only trouble i had was that i was rushing ans sort of hurried it.

yeah i was gunna use paint for that but it ran out :lol: i think i could chill when doin it but there was all these random little kids near me and i was trying to do it quick so they didnt see me, i seriously dont no what these kids where doin out at that time of night, they were like 10,11 yeah it made me kinda rush everything, next time ill try to chill more...

Go simple for a while, write it as basic as you can just to practice what the general flow of the letters are and space the shit out... It&#39;s all piled up into a mess of lines.

It&#39;s really not a matter of the letters you&#39;re using. It&#39;s just a matter of inexperience with handys. Practice alot, and eventually, you can rock nearly any word. Just keep practicing, and get some chisel tips. ;) You&#39;ll get it.

I don&#39;t like the big loopy thing in the &#39;k&#39;.

The &#39;A&#39; doesn&#39;t really fit with the other letters, your handy should be kinda like a font on the computer.

The &#39;s&#39; will probably tidy itself up after a while.

The &#39;T&#39; needs some work too.

The &#39;e&#39; isn&#39;t all that flash.

i just had an idea. one time when i was doing a tag i was rushing it cause i was like all shaky cause it was my first time doing it so i sorta screwed up the letters and stuff, but i accidentyl did this:

sort of made a love heart at the end, if you could work at extending something like that off your E, it may look real nice. just play with it and try to get a better looking love heart than i did, hahaha
