i used to do that but even wen its dry its still kind of sticky. ive hade some bad experiences where ive had bunch of stickers in my pocket and they all sticked together. i tried to to peel them off each other but it just caused them to rip. but it does work though i have a few stickers that i hae put about a year ago and they still have there color

make sure that when you stick 'em, you stick 'em flat on the surface, make sure there is no air bubbles under it.

write on them with paint markers, it wont fade. And cut the edges before hand, when you stick it, people wont be able to rip it off as easily, they will just rip off little pieces because of the cuts on the edges.

sharpie industrials last long.
Clearcoating will keep the color and make it last longer.

Some ppl tape the slaps to make ghetto vinyl, seems to work allright, though ive never tried it.

Paintmarkers work the best.

and when your putting it up, use the wax paper so that you can rub the slap on really well without getting your hands dirty or cut.

postal labels seem to be the best paper stickers

thats all i can think of for now..

and some ppl slice up the sticker (once its already up). so that if someone tries to rip it off they'll only get a tiny piece.

But its never seemed worth my time.

if you cut really thin lines it might look ok. but ya its not worth the time

i am completely against slashing your own stickers to prevent peeling.
putting cuts in it makes it look like crap, and you're dissing you're own work

if you want stickers that are impossible to peel off, then use paper or a very thin vinyl
both of these substrates shred upon buffing, and leave behind lots of adhesive residue
thin vinyl with very permanent adhesive will come off in small chips if anyone tries peeling it.
very thick vinyl is much more resistant to the elements, but can been removed in one or more large pieces when peeled.

you need to understand that after all is said and done, stickers will still get buffed, no mater what you do.
as with all graffiti, the artwork is temporary.
the good thing about stickers is you can produce a practically endless supply to replace those that are buffed or destroyed by the weather.
yeah sure you can take some small steps to try and lengthen your stickers street-life, like spraying them with UV-Resistant and Waterproof clear coat, but there comes a time where you have to just let things be.
instead of trying to make your stickers 100% indestructable, just fucking put a new one up.

anyone that doesn't understand this is a fool, and doesn't understand stickers.

Word, I don't really even care anymore. Slaps are a dime a dozen, actually better their free. I sometimes use paint ink, but I don't really care too much.

I'm also the guy who never really has seen any reason to detail the fuck out of them. Not saying that they don't look ill when you spend mad time on them, just not my thing. probably why I just stick to bombing and don't like peices.

Acrylic clear coat works also.
Especially use it if you are printing stickers out.

like a condom?

no, when you put on a condom you want the air bubble or "resivoir tip" to be there. it denies life to all the potential babies that shoot out of your penis.

always keep atleast one sticker on you at all times. you never know when you might need it.

I highly suggest peeling the back off prior to applying the sticker to the surface.

No, you squish the air bubble out, but leave a little pouch.

And I dont slice up my stickers once their up on a wall, I just do really short cuts with scissors on the edges prior to slapping

If your going to print them off, xerox them, dont use a home printer. Xerox ink is more weather proof. Thats what I do for wheatpaste posters. And clearcoat them.

JAYES1
09-11-2009, 12:21 AM
But I know what you mean Vagrant, its really not worth the time to slice up a sticker, and t is pretty much dissing yourself. I just get a stack of like 10 and snip the edges. Its really quick, otherwise I wouldnt bother. Thats the point of stickers, theyre easy to slap up and you can get tons of them up in a short period of time. Its really not worth it to spend a lot of time trying to buff-proof it.

go to osh/home depot/ace whatever your local hardware store is and go to the section where they have private property or for sale signs... they should have single letter stickers about 2in big. jus steal(or buy) the letters to your name then go home and over lap the letters on to eachother just a tiny bit. best place to slap em is on traffic light poles or eletrical boxes because people think that its supposed to be there.. very rarely do they get peeled off.. very easy to read so people dont have to spend time trying to read what your little bomb says that you did on your sticker and you dont have to waste time coloring all those... just stick the letters together and slap em.. also weather proof since the letters are made to be outside..

laserjet ink (ie ink used in copy machines) is very good because it is actually tiny particles of plastic fused to the paper, very weather and uv resistant

also fabric screen printing ink is very good because it is rubber, you need to heat seal it though or use fixer, otherwise it will never dry. it is also very uv and weather resistant.

for drawing stickers pigmented inks and paint are best because they are more uv resistant than dye based inks.

as others have said clearcoat helps with uv resistance and weatherproofing

check out label/vinyl store's dumpsters, they're a good way to get free vinyl

do any of you use screen printing for your stickers?

i have tried this, it didnt work well for me. i would take the sticker sheet off the screen and the print would be all bubbly and fukd up. im personally not comfortable with this process

peacebomb

Your doing something wrong then because screenprinting works absoulutely fine. Cesk, the guy that does the diamonds screenprints his stickers and they look just fine.

Cutting your stickers is complete bull shit! How can you put any up during the day like that?

If your printing stickers you dont have to xerox them you can get great quality by printing them out from your home printer and then clear coating them.

Here is a tut on how to print on 228's

Now no one will have to ask me for it.:D Not that I mind im on here alot so if anyone has questions I could probbaly answer them and if i dont know the answer I will help you find it out.:D

I use Rusto clearcoat enamel so fish eyes and bonds less with the paper and more to itself. That way It really is providing a barrier. You're colors will fade sooner or later, but resist. to outside elements (rain, dirt, light) is why I spray em.

It does make a difference if you clear them, but in the long run I wouldn't coat everyone that left the shop.

It spraypaints the stickers first...it does what it's told.
Give your postal stickers a little spray paint then draw on them...it gives your ink a nice gloss since it's not soaking into the sticker and also makes the sticker last longer since the rain isn't eating away at the sticker.

On a few slaps I did, I burned the edges to add to whatever shit I drew on it. I pretty much only do it if it has brown or dark red in it though, to add to the effect. In my opinion, anyway.

i never spend a ton of time on stickers. it's a quick way to get noticed. that's it. i do try and use paint markers because it typically lasts longer. I don't go out of my way to clearcoat the sticker but if time permits, I'll do it. Otherwise... my stickers are always very basic. 1... maybe 2 colors at best.

Fury
01-21-2010, 03:30 PM
^ I tend to do the opposite. I do about 3-4 colors per thing, and most are throws but simps look good too. I typically take about 5-10 minutes on a sticker, and about 5 a day (currently have about 85 stickers). I think if you just make a bunch of slaps and put them in places you can't paint, and then paint everywhere else, you'll be noticed more also.

I actually really like hand drawn stickers, and not the "made on the computer" ones, since they just don't seem as special to me and I tend to think it's a band sticker or something.

I like to do the same thing. I'll do 3 or 4 colors and I'll spend a few minutes on them, depending on what I'm doing or how I feel. I like to keep it simple looking, nothing complex. Crisp and Clean slaps draw looks, not something no one can figure out what the hell it is. My stickers are for the people in general...sometimes I draw "hate" stickers for things...like a damn vending machine that eats my money always. Location is KEY. A nice little sticker when you flip up the toilet paper holder that'll make you pause to read or look at and say...that looks cool. That's just my view on stickers.

Might have been said already..... You ever get those stickers with the backs that don't want to peel off and you're in a hurry to slap it somewhere?? Never fear! With a little invention called tape you will be worry free.

Stick a small piece of tape on the backside corner of your slap (if you're using a postal then this doesn't apply) and make sure a little extra hangs over. Next fold the excess back onto itself so you got a stick-free handle to pull on. Works on a lot of do-it-yourself stickers but not all.

I just line up my stickers, spray chrome over all of them. Then I take any light color that matches with black. I made this stencil that covers over the chrome. Spray it onto the stencil while its over the sticker. Then I take my red deco, make the force field. Then I do the black outline, again with a deco. Repeat until finished, slap them up.

The only thing you have to remove or cover up is anything that is a unique barcode that can track where the labels are from. It is most likly that these numbers aren't tracked untill used to ship something though, but you cant be too careful.

Bout time this thread died. But during the existance of this thread I noticed that...

#1 question on this thread: How can I make my slaps last 4Eva?
Answer:
1. Create slap
2. Peel off backing
3. Apply to your genitals

Reason: Because no one is going to look or touch you there besides
your father (real or religious position) because you're playing
with stickers still. Grow out of the underoos and GI Joes
and play with big boy toys.

#2 question on this thread: What do I spray on my slaps.....?
Answer:
Cat urine

Reason:
Because it gets you high.

Real Reason:
Cause I wanted to see if you'd play with cat urine u freak.

#3 question on this thread: Where do I get free stickers?
Answer: Police office, inquire with the local authorities on how to
obtain sh*t without paying for it.

Reference:
5-finger discount,Racking,Borrowing forever.

And to this thread: DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

Hi

just new on here, I’ve got a blog with some sticker stuff on it if anyone wants to check it out and give some feed back its here:
chaingunchimp.blogspot.com

But anyway I have a quick question...
I’ve been using some big a3 stickers recently, and accidently painted on the wrong side of a set (dumb I know). But it seems like a waste not to use them. Has anyone ever used this to adhere stickers to a wall: http://www.staples.co.uk/office-supplies/new-office-supplies/accessories/xtreme-green-glue-stick ? If not any alternatives?

cheers

if your in the US, postal stickers are free. they work well, and slap them where people can't reach/need to put effort into taking them down!

Postal stickers are also fairly blank too.

fedex shipping labels are the bomb you can order a roll of 5000 off there website or "borrow" a roll or 2 from work

paint markers work the best they dont fade like permanent markers. Decocolor all the way!
http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t383/MRsevenOHfive/DSC01137.jpg
Super 77 spray adhesive works good to keep them up or use contact cement or crazy glue, clear coat them with krylon uv resistant spray
