I want to do it to make a piece of art I know I can be proud of.

I also love that "damn, I remember painting that" factor when I see an old piece..

But other than that, I'm just a creative destroyer.

I enjoy making art, I dont want it to take me anywhere, I just want to live my life and enjoy what I do, If people are happy on my stuff then thats a plus but for me right now I just like painting because its fun and i get to make walls look better

i dont really want it to take me anywhere, i just love bombing and doing pieces. as well as watching graffiti movies to get ideas on what to do next. and i love looking back at my old pieces or seeing my tags from years ago, i remember exactly who i was with and what paint i used.

I don't want it to take me anywhere, I just do it because I enjoy it. I have done canvases and given them away, I have been paid for a T-Shirt design. I admit if someone turned round and offered me money for stuff then I wouldn't turn it down. I justfill blackbooks up and put them ona shelf and when my son gets older I will give them all to him, he already uses my Wacom on graffiti studio because he 'likes to paint on the trains' haha

To infinity and beyond!!

Naw.. don't expect graffiti to take you anywhere. The only thing you should expect out of it is fun times and self gratitude. And it's not where graffiti can take you, it's where you can take graffiti. You could make canvases after learning over the years, but those canvases won't take you anywhere. Don't expect to be famous. Don't sell out.

DicesST92

I don't necessarily want it to take me somewhere.
Things I still have to do with it:
Make a lot of canvases.
Buy a blackbook and at least fill that one up completely.
Learn to spraypaint too, and first hit legal spots and for illegal just tags or throw ups.
Wanna customize one pair of shoes, a shirt, a cap, some pants and maybe a hoodie.
I don't want to be a big ass artist or whatever, graffiti is what I love and what I do, but I'm not such a die hard type of guy, I just like to create stuff.

i dont really expect graf to take me anywhere but it would be cool if it did. i'm in the process of starting a graff related clothing company but as far as a future...i dont think graf is the way to go. i'm tryin to expand artwise tho being a fine arts major. not sure exactly what i want to do with my artwork but there are many possibilities. i'd say last resort would be to apprentice under my uncle as a tattoo artist but i'm not real kean on the idea.

I don't expect it to take me anywhere, except on adventures and the feeling of being a superhero haha. It also gives me something to do and for me to progress in and take self-pride.

And congrats on the kid, Alts. After the age thread, mentioning most were just young ass teens or something, I said to myself "Fuck I'm old."

To take ME?
I'm in it to be in it. I love what I do, and I don't expect to get anything out of it really. I mean we have done a couple paid walls, and an auto shop. It was cool to make a little bit of money or at least get the paint covered. But mostly I do it for the love of doing it.

I'm 24 and I suggest you kids to get good at whatever it is that you're doing...unless you REALLY want to only do graffiti, then get a job at McDonald's and paint on your free time(which I doubt you'll do til' you're old). otherwise, try to get good at illustration, graphic design, fine art, etc. and mix that shit up...you want to be good at something and have some sort of a plan otherwise life will catch you by surprise, you'll have a kid, expected or not, and the last thing on your mind will be graffiti. I am doing something design/art related and it still gives me the freedom to go out and paint a piece once in a while.
summary: graffiti on its own is not a sustaiable career choice, if you don't want it to take you anywhere and are a 'vandal' who doesn't give a shit about improving their skills, then you better be doing something else that will, otherwise your life will most likely suck because there's a lot of competition out there for everything else you might want to do.

If you think doing graffiti is actually gonna take you anywhere then you are highly misguided, do graffiti for fun, if you are serious about it move into graphic design, illustration anything that will get you paid for your artistic ability. All you people that are bombers just get used to the fact you will never be famous, it wont happen, think of the famous bombers and you will not ever get anywhere close to them.

I just do graf/art for fun, hell I even give away most canvases that I do to mates, or they just sit collecting dust in my spare room. Yea I would love to get paid for something artistic but I am too old to go study and I am shit at doing design on computers (which is where you are gonna get paid for your ability).

Personally you are better off studying something legit that will set you up in a real job where you earn money and you have the freedom to do what you want in your spare time, most of you are too young to know what the real world is like yet, believe me I have been working now for over a decade in jobs I don't like because I cruised through school and didnt try even though I should have been in university and getting degrees etc, dont make that mistake.

^definitely. im an art major and let me tell you how many kids in my classes are final fantasy havin, pokemon catchin, warcraft lovin, art nerds that are rejected from society so they paint flowers all day. i feel so out of place in there. anyways my teacher set up a grafitti wall last semester and had the class cover it. you should have seen these fruitloops tryna bomb. it was the most pathetic shit i've ever seen. it's a god thing all these fairies are too scared of getting in trouble to paint illegally. if graffiti becomes socially acceptable it will give all these kids the courage to put their shit on walls. trust me you dont want that.

Not everyone wants a board graphic with graffiti on it. this is a retarded idea for a thread.

"how do you want to sell out our culture?"

fuck right off with that bullshit. you paint till your finger falls off and when you can no longer paint due to health, legal or marital issues or whatever. you can decide what to do with an idea about graffiti then.

i bet most of you havent even been writing for 2 years. so again, fuck right off with that shit. tryin to rape my culture. shits washed down enough fuck.

everyone wants to make a movie. but none of you prolly paint enough to make a movie worth watching. everyone wants to make a t-shirt. but graffiti shirts are more or less retarded. some fancy hipster graffiti crooks an castles bullshit.

just paint, dont do it thinking its gonna get you somewhere. cuz in reality its only gonna get you a criminal record and breathing issues.

I want graffiti to take me to new memories, new friendships, and a new outlook. Im in college right now, studying for graphic design...i paint more then i go to school though. I want graffiti to take me to new memories, new friendships, and a new outlook. Im in college right now, studying for graphic design...i paint more then i go to school though. In the end, I just want graffiti to make me happy...and it always will. When there has been nothing/noone to turn to, graffiti is always there for you to adventure on. thats whats so unique about this shit..

you said it man thats pretty much all i want graff to do

Definitely agree with what Nose2 said. I don't want it to take me anywhere. I want to take it places, and put shit up that makes people drop their jaws, and respect it, whether they're into graff or not. It's a better high than any drug, and the feeling of accomplishment from even a good tag in the right place is enough to keep you going. I just want to leave my mark.

i want to paint something that has the same effect as some graff ive seen had on me. it illuminates the urban culture in a way that cannot be expressed with any other form and i want to be a part of that no matter how small i am now or how small ill stay. i want to inspire and create something both taboo and ultimately accepted by all. where there are objects there are tags and i am gonna join the party.

I just want to be able create good art that im proud of, I think you enjoy things the better you get at them and you feel better that youve practiced and got better on your own.

Also, theres nothing to do where I live other than drink and get stoned so it gives me something more constructive to do.

I want graffiti to be the death of me, I wan to get shot by the popo or by another writer cause i was hittin somthin i wasnt supposed to. I only do graffiti cause it makes other people think im cool, when in reality im a sad and lonely child living in a basement with no friends. Even my hamster doesnt give me the time of day anymore, he just lays there and ignores me. Its like so totally frustrating because I buy him unsalted sunflower seeds and give him a hamster wheel and tubes and shit but even that doesnt make him love me. Last week I bought him a new hamster ball and promised id keep him safe from all the cats down here but even that hasnt helped. I even feed him steak and sliced up carrots and other vegetables but all it does is make him shit everywhere........ I still love him, but he doesnt love me anymore... I think there may be someone else

Graffiti will get you nowhere but jail or doing hours upon hours of community service while paying an assload of fines.

none of you will ever be the next revok, and even if you did..that dude is in and out of jail left and right . anyone who thinks he or she is going to gain from this, other than just having a great time and fun doing it, is playing themselves.

chocolate kills phat:mad:, but no, I has no ice cream to give him cause i eats it all. Its how I deal with my depression of being an unloved loser. Even when my moms lets me out of the basement she does it so the police cant get involved not cause she loves me. She always says things like "I should have had a fucking abortion, maybe that way my life wouldnt be a complete waste and dissapointment," and "You FUCKING retard! Get the fuck back in the basement you sfucking loser!!!!"....I dont know what to do anymore...Im waaay to much of a pussy to hang myself, not hood enough to shoot myself, and to broke to afford enough drugs to OD...... life sucks

I think Graff is more of a hobby, I don't drink as much as I used to since I spend my cash of Montana Black, and a quit drugs so I could progress in graff, I probably won't always be doinh graff, but when I'm older in my 30-40's, I'd like to still be dropping a piece here and there.

I dont want it to take me anywhere, but i want it to create memories. I don't want to be another dead head robot working a 9 to 5 day doing something i dont like, but i know its how im gonna end up. So while im working my shitty job for 8 hours il be able to think about the shit i got up to as a kid; the chasers, the tricky spots, the back ons. Stuff that il remember. Forever.
