I am gettin better, being able to bust out throw ups without practice. I just follow the basic principle of painting over.

What the weird thing is, alot of people in my area overpaint and I notice it. The area where I am currently at (Yer shit gets tagged over in like 2 day's) is littered with old cans of Krylon, no name paints and stuff (Since no one round here has access to a graff shop)

Some shit I have seen is medium sized bombs, purposeful drips and bubbles, etc. Basically three color things, nothin big. Yet all around these tags are around 5-6 cans. Which I can note out are the same color of the take (So I assume they belong to the same tag since nothing new except that has popped up)

They take 5-6 cans to make a tag, for what I can do in three or four cans. And if I am going light, two cans. I find it hard to believe some people don't conserve paint.

Things that use 2 or more colours of PAINT are either a throwup, blockbuster, bomb, or peice.

Tags are basicly the things you see on light posts and such.

Never even heard of writes. You can call em tags. It don&#39;t really matter. I used to shun the word tag, then a good writer said he called em tags, so fuck it. Just don&#39;t call em pieces. or bombs.
I refer to it as "ghetto calligraphy from time to time.

im about to start running around and grabbin up all the pieces of wood, metal, anything flat and large that i can find. start painting on that. get a feel for what i like. this way when i actually go out and bomb/piece, im not so surprised on how shitty it is. i hope others do the same. i went to an over pass ditch and tried a simple thow and found out the hard way that i suck something fearce. first of all i didnt have the right tips, the fill was horrible. it was sloppy and just bad. this was because takeing something from pen and ink, to wall and paint is not as easy as u preceve in your head. 2 competly different mediums. so thus started changeing my style. i started putting things to paper that would be an easier transition to paint. i guess my point is dont just go out and bomb the shit out of stuff untill u get a basic knowledge of what u can do and what is in your means. to me u should start out with handstyles, then move to trows, then pieceing. the most common mistake i see is people do the exact oppisite. this is why progressing is very slow, to non existant. if your going to put your shit out for others to see, make sure its atleast up to your standards. something that if u didnt know u did it, u would look at it and be like, "thats a nice thorw". or "i dig that handstyle". never have i seen someone start out wrighting beginning with pieces and it looks good. so when they find out they suck at that, they move to throws, if they dont just give up on it there. when they find out they are better at thows then piecing, this is when they bomb the hell out of shit, when they want to add shit to the throw, now its time for the handstyle fix up. now, u start thinking your the shit, so now u start piecing. and its just a little bit better. but they could have just saved a shit load of time and money(if u dont rack) by going handstyle,throw,piece rather then piece, throw, handstyle. everyone wants to bust tight pieces. but like anything that takes skill u have to start from the bottom and work your way up. hardcore pieceing evolved from throws, and thows evolved from handstyles. beginning writers like me should follow the same path.

excuse the spelling, thats just my 2 cents on graff these days.

Consider this.... You say you only care about graff. BUT HOW MUCH do you care about graff? Cuzz the four elemants are so vital to eachother as a culture and history. If you love one element, you should love the elements, culture and history, not just it&#39;s after effects. I&#39;m not saying you have to know the history of the scratch or how to uprock (although I do), but don&#39;t be negative about the other 3 elements baby&#33; They made graff what it is today. I practice non traditional forms of graffiti, and I still have a very healthy respect and appreciation for traditional graff and the 4 elements. I own turntables, and I can teach you how to pop and lock. I don&#39;t MC, but I make an effort to search out the good MC&#39;s that remain from the spoils that "rap" produces....


In conclusion, you don&#39;t have to love or live the elements, but you better respect &#39;em. ;) :wub:

Its okay. I own turntables too. And a decent mixer, and headphones.

But that doesnt mean that I dont care about the other 3 elements. I like oldskool alot and I own deathrow records shirts and Tupac tour shirts from when I was really little. I had two of them.

I care about them just not as much as I adore and admire some really good writers and artists. ICHabod (Trains) and Seen are two I really like. I love art in general. So I guess thats why? (Ich is a great simple tick toc guy. And tons of skulls.)

Even though this is besides the point, the way I do 3D is I place a dot where-ever in a piece and simply draw all lines running off the letters towards the dot

Simple and easy, I honestly figured it out myself before I saw other guys doin the same thing.

And you see, graphs in maths really does help in the progression of your art work.

Word to that.. The trainyard is a fantastic adreneline rush, but it should be an earned reward for learning your craft with reputable proficiency.. The yards are like a holy place to writers. They&#39;re the most direct descendant of the NY subways. You really need to hit chill spots before the yards,but once you do hit them, don&#39;t ever assume you&#39;re alone there. workers or bulls could be at the yards at anytime of day or night. It just depends on what theyre shipping and when they need it to get somewhere, so you might run into someone at 4 in the morning on a holiday, if you&#39;re unlucky and not watching your back.

The only reason I&#39;m really posting this is freight fever.. I haven&#39;t been to the yard in a couple months, and you really do get some mental type withdrawls. You start craving the adreneline rush. It&#39;s weird. I&#39;m no adreneline junky by any means. I drive the speed limit, quit drinking, smoking, and using drugs, and I avoid trouble and excitement, but that rush you get from sneaking through the dark, listening for other people, climbing through those big steel monsters, that feels incredible. To be honest... I have a fear of the dark. It&#39;s not overwhelming, but I find myself comepletely uncomfortable outside in pitch darkness, EXCEPT when I&#39;m bombing. It doesn&#39;t even occur to me then, because of the adreneline.. It&#39;s weird. I guess that&#39;s why people get so hooked on graff. It&#39;s mentally addictive.

Answer- no. The new "New 2 graff" is already getting slightly cluttered with advice in what was envisioned as a sort of "visual textbook". Some valuable advice is permitted in New 2 Graff. The rest should go here. If you are beyond this threads range of help, don&#39;t click on it.
