My Graffiti Story

This is how my graffiti life ended. I'm 16 and I come from a city in KS near downtown KC. I have never had any influence of graf in my life and where I come from nobody does it at all. So after starting on paper and getting half decent I took it to school. Basically I snuck out of my 6th hour and tagged the hell out of my High School in every bathroom in multiple places, in the stair wells, and on the main staircase with a chisel tip sharpie. Wrong decision. There are 144 cameras in my school basically watching every part of it, but everywhere I tagged the camera couldn't see so I thought I was good. I felt like I was on top of the world that day after that because I know everyone in the school would know my name since no body else did graf.

The next morning I stopped by Walmart on my way to school and bought a white painter and a Sharpie magnum. Before school started I proceeded to tag all the mirrors again since all my tags had already been buffed. Then during 3rd hour I went to the bathroom and tagged a few other places not even using my magnum yet. As I was walking back into the room my teacher told me I was called down to the office and I freaked out but she said it was just probably for attendance. I sat in the lobby for like 45 minutes before they even called me in.

This administrator took me down a hallway and got met halfway by a officer who took me into a room with 6 big monitors on the way and a joystick to move them. He sat me down and said this is your chance to come out. I said what do you mean? As I asked this he took out a stack of pictures from a file with almost every single one of my tags on it. So I pretty much had to admit to it because I knew they could probably but together the video footage of me so I just confessed. They brought my backpack in and searched the whole thing found all my markers and took them out then went through my black book so they knew for sure. After a few questions they sat me back in the lobby for another half hour.

The same guy brought me back into a different room and took my phone. A different administrator came in with a notepad and asked me a whole bunch of questions and looked through my black book and wrote notes trying to figure out if I was in some sort of gang. I was wearing total punk cloths so they figure I wasn't. He told my there would probably be some suspension involved which was news to me because the officer was talking about how he didn't want to have to follow me with the cameras when I came back tomorrow. The guy walks out and has a meeting with the principle and my grade level principle. He came back and told me how I was gonna not only gonna get suspension but that it was going to be FIVE days of OSS. I was like okay what the fuck. So that basically meant I was coming back to school for 8 days because of the weekend and a holiday. They gave me all my shit back and told me I wasn't allowed back on any school property in the district. Then I had to have a security guard escort me outside to the parking lot through the lunch room so it got a lot of attention. The best part of it all was that the guard told me he liked my art but I should keep it on paper.

Anyway I got home and got grounded from everything until I got back to school. Two weeks later I drove to Hobby Lobby (a local art and crafts store) and racked a few decos and a poster paint marker/mop. Everything including paint in that store is kept out and easy access. So I went out with my brother one night and I wrote “Bomb the system” on the front doors of the school really big. Then I got bored so I wrote fuck in a fancy hand style on all these light poles and electric boxes. Then the last thing I wrote on was this sign my mom had just put up because she is in charge of the neighborhood board that said no soliciting. I crossed out the “no” on it and thought it was pretty funny.

They next morning my mom wakes me up and says come down stairs I need tot talk to you right now. She then asks me if I wrote on the sign and I said no and she pulls out the mop she went in my room and found which I was stupid to even keep out. I got grounded from everything again and she told me to get every single marker I had even if it wasn’t permanent and put it in a bag and bring it downstairs. I took my bag of spray and put it up in my bros closet so they wouldn't find it. Then my mom made me give her all my slaps (close to 50) which sucked because I spent a lot of time on those. At that point I was thinking fuck this shit! It is fun as hell but all it has got me is shit and losing friend and getting closer and closer to losing my girlfriend. I gave my bro all the markers I had hid and then my dad picked me to go to his house because my parents are divorced. Monday came (yesterday) and I got suspended again for 3 days for some other stupid shit not related.

So now I'm like who he fuck have I become? I am so close to losing my girlfriend now and I have treated my family like shit lately so I decided I need to turn my life around because I don't want to grow up to be one of those fuck ups. Call me a pussy..call me whatever..I still love it and feel such a strong pull to just go out and do it right now but I know I can't..no other feeling in the world compares to the excitement of getting your name up on something and have so many people see it. In the end it will always just piece of my life that happened and passed. If you are thinking about getting into it I can tell you that you will gain satisfaction from it and it is a good way to release emotion but in the end your just going to get yourself in deep shit. I'm not here to hate on graf I’m just here to tell my story..

Edit: BTW I didn't dis my moms shit lol I washed it off and I did it as a joke because I knew she would flip. (but I didn't think she would be that pissed) Oh and to all the haters I am a pussy and im sure there are 12 year olds that know more than me. Those 12 year old kids were raised on the shit. Not me.
