hey guys i have a question. If I want to start doing characters, where should i start? They interest me so much and it bumbs me out that I can't do them.

there are two ways. And doing them both at the same time is ok.

-draw random shapes, and do you're best to make them look cool. Put faces on them, or turn them into head of characters. They all suck at first, but the more you do it the better you get. It just takes time.

-Go on google or scope around here for characters you like and copy them. Think about the aspects and styles you gravitate towards. Mix and match until eventually you have your own style.

exi - drawing simple shapes and making chars out of them is a fun way to go about it. if a char is simple but you came up with it, it makes it a more fun then copying something on the internet. simple chars can develop easily as soon as you get your own style down. and there is a difference between influence and biting imo. finding the middle ground is what is really hard to do

yeah im all about drawing shapes turning em into chars...youll get good quickly..heres some of mine in the mix..
the first is made out of the last letter of a tag..i think its real cool when you can add chars to tags...or simply tag chars way more attention

@Plankton: that first character is awesome. i love the body all sneakin away, im not to sure how i feel about the head/face though. i have a feeling it could be better, but since its some quick stuff, i say finish the sketch and go paint it
