Ok first off, get a really good sketch, do some mad shading and colors too. Show the owner and tell them you are trying to get into Commercial Art. That's the key there you see, Commercial Art is like doing a business logo and them paying you for it. Like your favorite radio station art. Someone did that, and they got paid to do it. Although you're just painting it for free to get the cred.
Just be friendly and really understanding.
If they say no, who cares there are probably more businesses around anyways.
