I don't understand this new hype on bullying. Do words really affect kids that much these days? I'm sure there's less violence in schools now than there was a decade back, so why is it an issue now?

its because of parenting. A lot of folks these days coddle their children. Its becoming more and more unacceptable to scold your child for acting up. If a kid doesnt get bullied by his own parents or siblings, how the fuck they boutta survive in public places without parental supervision? Everything seems a lot more permanent when your young, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem
