    i want to get a decent spiral bound black book mainly to use alochol markers in like promarkers, i dont want a ironlak branded one or any of that unnecessary shit, i just want one that does the job for now. i know about paper GSM cos im an art student but i dont want to be going OTT with it when i dont need to and getting like a 350gsm one and wasting my money, any suggestions would be appreciated

    99p Store if you don't want to spend much. It isn't black , but its a book with 75-150gsm paper depending on how quality your poundshop is. ha. Personally I think your better going the works/hobbycraft/graffshop and getting something a bit heavier. Books is where the work should be put in, so its worth getting decent stuff IMO.

    i looked in the works for specific sizes, weights and prices;

    field sketch book - 48 sheets of 150gsm a4 paper, but its confusing cos it says its cartridge paper at the top and then says its watercolour paper furhter down? but oh well. thats £3
    artists sketch book - 150 sheets of 89gsm paper its an odd custom size though £6
    a4 sketch pad - 30 sheets of 130gsm cartridge paper for a £1 if this was hardbacked id defo get it but it isnt ugh
    then theres also 2 canvas boards sized at 10x12 inches which is double gessod for £2

    Cant complain with 48 sheets of 150gsm for £3. or 30 130gsm for £1 really. You wont find it much cheaper than that! If your bothered about it not being hard back, back it yourself, get all Neil Buchannan on it's ass. I've seen some really well done DIY blackbook covers, ones from wood with engravings in and the likes. Bit much for my personal taste, but I can understand the appeal.
