yes, this is a midi control thing, you need music production software to sample and chop and assign to the pads like in the videos posted.

well, you have options, i will ship it with the usb cable i got with it, which is the normal everyday one. powers the unit fine. but you can also get an adapter that will power it from a wall socket for around 20 bucks.
