What paper are you guys using?

Is wrapping paper any good? White on one side and patterned on the other.

Right now I use 120 g/w drawing paper when I want it to be nice and bright white/high contrast. I also have a big pad of newsprint that I use sometimes when I don't care as much about the piece.

Wrapping paper should work although the print may show through when it gets wet.

I get it at De Serres (used to be Loomis), but you should be able to find it at almost any art store. The stuff I get comes in big sheets, packages of 25. The brand name is Fabriano.

Chub - it's a strong image, good concept. But with something that simple man it's all about having clean sharp lines. Any little wobbles really detract from the overall impact of the stencil. I dunno if it's your cutting or your painting but if you can get all your lines straight and clean it'll look dope. Also try and keep the same amount of space between the fingers and palm etc.

yeah, see this is the first real big poster ive done, and i didnt really have any paint around, so i had to do the thing with a magnum. usually my stuff is alot cleaner, but the marker kept bleeding through and yeah. that was my first one, so hopefully ill have paint to fill it in next time, it will be alot cleaner :P

idk the exact measurement, but i think its like a 24x10 1/2. i know thats a bit in the smaller catagory but for me thats the biggest ive done so far.

Do you know how to blow up stencils to be that big tho? cause what i did for the fist was i got the image resized at kinkos and then filled it in with the magnum, while the actual TOXIC is a stencil. the orignal fist size was an 8x 11 1/2. i dont know to to get it bigger on some harder paper that wont warp when i use it as a stencil

I dunno I do everything by hand. I'd just redraw it on a bigger sheet of whatever you use.
Or you could get Kinko's to print it out biiig and then trace that onto acetate. One of the pros about using that instead of card is you can use it like tracing paper.
you can get pretty big sheets of acetate/mylar for big stencils. Or use a few pieces and put em together.

Invest in an Overhead Projector. I bought one the other day man.

On eBay you should be able to find one for like 30 bucks or something, or get one free from school etc..

Then you just print your image on acetate, project onto a wall where you have a big sheet of paper, and draw it on.

Perfect image, no lining sheets up or anything and saves on printing huge.

^^ I vouche for that. I use a projector I got from a craft store. The biggest poster I've done with it was around 9 ft tall. This one vvv

As for your markers bleeding, keep your paper flat against a super flat surface. I used to have the same problem, but if you keep your shit flat, it shouldn't do that.

Whatever you can afford. I imagine they all pretty much do the same shit, but the more bucks you spend, the better or easier it does it. I started with a cheapy 20 dollar projector, and it worked, but the image I projected could only be about 3 inches square and went up to about 3 feet when projected. Now I have a 70 dollar projector that goes as big as I want.
