By the way, EP stands for "extended play". This is due to the fact that although it is longer than a traditional single, it is less than that of an LP (long-playing album). EP's are often used as promotional tools and early-releases to increase awareness of an artist's upcoming full-length album (thus the LP).
Although the terminology was originally created by vinyl pressers, the nomenclature is circumvented today into the realm of CD's and digital downloads as well.
