LIKE ME ON FACEBOOK YOU BIG IDIOTS
Yeah, no digital files are as nice as negs. I'm working on processing the M8 files in different ways though, and also shooting it like it was a film camera.
I sold my D300s so I picked up the M8, my only digital camera now, to work on some new stuff and for some projects coming up.
But yeah fuck digital even trying to come close to beautiful negs!
I kind of feel like you're overprocessing those m8 files. It looks like you've given them too much contrast, causing it to blow out and lose shadow detail. If you want them to look more like film I'd suggest looking at a program called alien skin exposure 2, or that silver whatever that ak uses, it'll probably give you better results then "fucking with the sliders."
I usually shoot for high contrast, and exposed subjects but the backgrounds don't matter to me so much, i blow them out and it doesn't bother me. if you compare those 3 M8 photos to my other M6 stuff I process them to be similar to how i shoot/develop my film -

M8
Played with Silver Efex, but it just kinda overlays grain. All I really do in Lightroom is convert to B/W and sharpen slightly to bring out any noise from the M8 ISO, since it looks like film grain rather then noise.
Like I said, still working with processing for those files. Working 6 days I have to find time to shoot/process and I've only been shooting it about a week, ie. one day out of that.
But yeah, not trying to replicate film. Just shooting the camera like I would if I was shooting film. Exposing how I normally do, etc.
If I wanted a film look I'd shoot film.

Too me these look film-like but correct me if Im wrong.

Nah they look digital, haha.
Youre right, im a fucking moron.
Not really, they're just far too smooth and... well, digitalised to be film.
Even the one you edited kmc just looks like a noisy digital photo, that's the problem with trying to replicate film though, overlaying grain. It's best just to find a way to shoot that suits you/the camera and is similar to your film style.
How are you liking the M8 anyway jobin?
I hate it when people do a digital to black and white conversion...never the same XD
sorry for a really really shit photo but just taken from my phone...I finally got some little cards printed so I can mega whore my blog...if anyone wants me to send them 10-20 to hand out, or chuck in a local shop etc, just ask more than willing to send them out etc
