Fluorescent light is one of the most effective source of artificial light (easiest to get & cheapest i think)

Metal Halide lamps, they radiate more light in the blue and white bands of the light spectrum.

sunlight is the best form of light for growing plants, their life cycle can be controlled more effectively with artificial lighting

The best light for plant growth emits high blue and red bands of the light spectrum

young marijuana plant tends to grow faster if it is grown under continuous light for the first two months of it's development.

I really doubt you've ever grown indoors, so next time you want to try and help someone don't give them information on stuff you've got no idea about. You can't grow with ultra violet, and modifying lamps is beyond dumb unless you know exactly what your doing. Otherwise, your op and a good section of your house will be up in flames.

If you've got only 4-5 plants, your ideal light would have to be a 400 watt HPS but you won't need that untill you switch your plants into flowering. Untill then, flurocesent lights work just fine.

putting a large bulb in a large lamp would cause an electrical fire becasue a larger bulb would exede the wattage rating on the socket ment for the small one
therefore by attempting to grow pot you would burn your house down
