Phil is right to some extent though. I do not have knowledge of proper proportions just yet. (These were done very quickly with no photo reference i'm still learning as I go.)
And yes as a cartoon the proportions will be highly exaggerated but also make sense for what the subject is. and with out knowledge of proportions it is hard to make it believable. I just use my skills of judgment
