Well, the only way a particle can be moved even slightly slower than the speed of light needs to have little to no mass. So, it's really unreasonable to think humans will ever be able to do that.

One theory is the mayans killed themselves thru their own stupidity.
They used to throw the bodies of those they sacrificed into the cenotes, which are bodies of water linked underground and have holes penetrating the surface.
They'd throw dead bodies into one cenote and use another for their source of water, obviously since they're are linked underground their water source became poisoned.
I'm sorry but if a civilization can't work out that the water from cenotes is linked and not separate you think they're gonna be able to calculate the end of the world? Motherfuckers believed in giant snake gods...cmon.
