A fast 50mm is essential, then it's preference if you want to go wide or tele.

on the way home from school in fifth grade i witnessed a suicide of a homeless man
i was riding the bus and we where behind another bus at the train tracks.
apparently dude just layed down on the tracks when the train was coming
this was about 20 feet from the road
they tried to put a blanket over the half that was visable to the school busses
but the wind blew it off
    shit was verry gruesome

iwrite, is it the 18-55 zoom lens? this is much(much) different than a fast prime lens (non-zoom)

Look into one of these, but check with other people first, as I know nothing about modern nikons. They make a 1.4 version also, but it's 3x the price. Probably worth it if you end up getting serious, though.

NO, don't buy that one. Buy the 35mm f/1.8 AF-S. The lens pictured will NOT auto focus on a d60. You have to buy AF-S or G lenses if you want autofocus. If you don't mind having to focus by hand everytime, then the f/1.8D above is fine.

    OR the 50mm f/1.4AF-S

I've heard of heaps of shutter lock up problems with the R4A's R2A's R3A's etc, the electronic shutter bessas suck basically apparently. (Check Youtube) Shouldn't have much trouble with the M bessas, but if I were you I'd wait and get a Leica M3, 10x better camera and will last you for life, whereas as a Bessa definitely won't.

    awww.photoprice.ca_product_images_01427.large.gif

    Plus it's 10x sexier.

I got that 50mm on my D40, I havent used it properly for something but if you do buy it, its best taking a few shots at different focuses because sometimes it looks in focus on the LCD but normally its not.

I got it more for an investment for any future cameras I get cus shits pretty hard to focus manually when its wide open but I got this with it, haven't been outside to get anything, I got it for portraits mainly. I've got these though, all in camera because there too shit to take any further

Try the leica 50mm F/0.95, fastest lens ever.

    areviews.photographyreview.com_files_2008_09_m82noctilux_m_50mm_f0.jpg

Its gigantic next to an M8, but check how tiny the depth of field is:

For shooting in near darkness, without having to use high ISO's and making the shot all grainy. And for beautiful portraits where only the eyes are in focus, eg:

I prefer my M6, M7 has a fully electrical shutter that you need a battery for it to even take photos. LAME.
