If you like landscape get a wide angle, but wider than 17mm. Try the tokina 11-16mm or tokina 12-24mm. Both are great wide angles but the former has constant f/2.8 aperture while the latter has f/4. I have the 11-16 and I love it. I'm pretty sure they come in canon and nikon mounts.
And KMC, gilden is a king among men. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UC02bm7ZxM another video about him.
gettin a d40 refurbished of ebay. now i have to find a cheap fisheye lens. i found one on ebay for $40 but i dont trust that. god i hate being lower middle class.
Nahh man, get the 40 dollar one, Ive had mine for a year and it works pretty good. 18mm= fisheye, 55mm= macro... cant go wrong.
i was reading some digital photography books in borders today and learned a little bit. there seemed to be books on everything model but the d40 haha
Those cheap fisheyes are ok as a novelty but they aren't sharp at all on the edges. The cheapest your looking at is the 10.5mm DX fisheye, but you won't be able to use autofocus on your d40 with it.
I kinda like how this is out of focus. [Broken External Image]:http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1593/dsc3620copyk.jpg

barbed fucking wire for the win haha. so far heres a list of things i think im going to want/need. let me know if im missing something or have something dumb on there lol tripod remote flash(es) studio light reflectors (might try to make some ghetto ones) possibly a cable release extra battery grip lenses in the future, not sure what i want though deff a fisheye should i get some filters too? old pic for talking
Forget tripod for now, forget studio lights, buy one decent SB-600 and then more cheap flashes, forget cable releases, grip is handy simply for shooting portrait, I use mine constantly, no need for filters in what your doing. Remember if you want a fisheye you won't be able to use it with auto focus on your D40, which sucks.
