Anti wasn't starting shit, he was trying to finish it.
    .
I guess since my gf is going to be moving out I'll have an empty closet and nobody to stop me...
Hopefully the electric bill for the lights don't go up too high.

Even a single 250watt metal halide?
    Pardon my spelling
Or would that not be enough for one or two plants?
I'll live by candle-light to keep the bill down. It'll be worth it.

I'm not sure if the light I've got my eyes on has a MH or sodium bulb in it.
Are the bulbs interchangeable? Or do they need different ballasts or something?
Bulbs aren't hard to get either, I know where they store them at my work.

i think in the ideal grow, you start off with a hps bulb, and eventually switch to metal halide.

i've never grown before, so i could just be talking out of my ass, but i think i've heard that somewhere before.

i don't imagine you would need different ballasts.

It's the opposite, MH for veg growth and HPS for flowering.

And for how much powering your using, they won't mind as long as you pay your bills on time, unless your areas known for growing.

I heard of using different lights for the different stages, but does it matter that much? I'm not looking to get the maximum yeild, I just want some decent bud.
I've done some reading, but its good to ask questions too.

if cost is an issue you may wanna look into using cfls vag, Ive used em for awhile and had pretty good outcomes with em. talk to you plants seriously ive witness this 1st hand, a friend had a grow but he didn't "care" for em and they just went to shit he did everything else right but just didn't put in the extra effort and it show. Love em and they'll love you back. keep it simple your 1st go around and always keep learning. theres nothing like harvest time.

Token, thanks for mentioning that you've used flourescents. I've read that they can be used, but results aren't as good as with the more serious bulbs.
What was your lighting setup like?

Ipwn, thanks for posting the info. I have plenty of resource info saved at home. I'll be studying it when I get done with work. A lot of that stuff I knew already.
