to have a pigment in an ink you need a binder, for water-based inks they sometimes use gum arabic, or sometimes other glues. without a binder pigment will just settle to the bottom, the binder suspends the pigment in the solvent, in this case water. I think a very common pigment for ink sticks is lampblack.

anything that's not tattoo ink is fuckin horrible for tattoos. for 1) that shit is toxic & could kill u if it gets into your blood or whatever & for 2) it fades super quick. i've got a friend at school who made a tattoo gun with a mechanical pencil & a couple other things like a year or 2 ago & he used india ink for the tattoos & luckily they're almost all non existent because the tattoos were retarded (like his own name on his knuckles & a spider web on his forearm) & he got real ink. those r retarded too but they're still there
