When your letters seem too far apart, bring them closer together. Don't fill it with extensions, that just kind of puts a highlight on where you made a mistake.
They're called extensions because they extend one letter into another, they don't just randomly connect two letters. I need to quit using extensions myself, I'm too toy to pull it off.

By the way, on that second sketch keep your letters the same size.

 

meph- looks good it would look good with a fill, more than just one color you know. Whats up with the thing below the M

2FNK-your 3-D is all over the place. I like that style of thin crooked letter like you got gong but it definitly needs work, and I would drop the connections you got going with the top of the letters for now

 

the letters is like a display of a turbo. the M is piping connecting to an intercooler ( the lines under the M) the E is just piping connecting to the turbo which is a P and the H is piping connecting to the blow off valve.
