to say that maclaims work is "art fag" shit is simply chey have tlosed-mindied ignorance... taken photorealism, and combined it with abstract elements and composotions, while incorporating typography... this, people, is what progression is all about... dont get mad that your lack of ability is limiting what you create... How convenient it is to only like simple graffiti, when thats all you can do... jealousy is a sucker move.
It's not ture graffiti unless your just throwing up your name however you can on New York train cars. Personaly, I fuckin love all that really artistic stuff probaly because I'm not really a graffiti writer I'm an artist who just happens to be inspired by graffiti. I'll admit most things I paint are legal but I don't really give a fuck, I paint because I love painting I don't paint to stay true to hip hops roots.

OK I have to get in on the debate. First off, art fag, street cred. or not, MaClaim Crew Don't fuck around, and could probably burn a lot of the writers out there. They are artist/writers, not just vandals. There's nothin' wrong with that. Some of those flix posted look awfully covert, and underground. Some of them do look "legal" too. Let's just think of Legal work as public relations; it improves image. When bombing one writes for writers, not the public. On the other hand you don't see very many strictly "street cred." artists get gallery shows and rock the holy shiz out some canvas either. It all depends on what you are into and where u want to go with it. Yes. Daim and others have formal training, but you don't just go to art school and, kaboom, all of the sudden you can kick ass. It takes skill and practice. Just like average joe writer, they had to put in work too. I go to school for art and design, and I paint too; legally, and illegally. If that makes me an art fag then I guess I am, but I think my girl would disagree. It's not just a, no pun intended, black and white issue here. all those that are hating on Maclaim can't really say shit. these guys have paid they're dues, been around a lot longer than you and can burn you. if you actually went to their site and looked through it you'd notice there are a couple illegal pieces on there. so now the question is... if you've paid your dues like them, start a mural company, put up a website, are you going to put all your throwups, bridge hits and trains on that site??? i don't think so. these guys aren't looking for street cred from some canadian kids sitting on the internet. they wouldn't be painting with who they're painting with if they didn't have any cred to begin with...
