I believe Ra Ra Riot belongs in this thread. They are relatively new and have released their first album last year titled, "The Rhumb Line." Check 'em out:

Just somehow discovered Pheonix only now through your posts. 6/5

Heres a bunch of awesome connected bands (bottom two new to me)

-The White Stripes - insanely good; but most have heard ATLEAST of them
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnTb0PfbSoE

-The Raconteurs - Combination of Jack White + A solo and 2 guys from Greenhornes
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kov83AXN1Xs

-The Kills - Super dirty indy; Leadwoman = Alison Mosshart
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdeWQIM1FgY&feature=related

    And Finally

-The Dead Weather ; Jack + Alison + Guy from Raconterus + Guy from Queens of the Stone Age.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7QSkI6My1g

All still currently playing - all cool...check 'em.

Here are two albums that can be put in my coffin.

Buck 65 - Vertex - The manifestation of perfection in avant garde/artistic hip-hop (listen even if you dont appreciate hip-hop)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdaE1YDWNuM

Nomeansno - Wrong - Canadian grandfathers of Alt rock - .... awesome musicians!

    Is anyone into post-rock?

I could really use an injection of new music.
