ehh, im not really that kind of person i guess. i feel like if i tried just getting in peoples faces, the camera would take too long to focus and stuff. idk i like meeting the people and talking with them
yea i was always iffy about feeling like a creep/stalker ill grow in to doing them.. start with friends 1st
Well its more of a candid I think. I like getting close up and pretty much have to be noticed. I don't have a longer lens to get further away.
don't get me wrong upstate, I like the pictures, but people always look different when they know they're about to have their picture taken. People will yell at you and try and start arguments sometimes though. edit: take a look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkIWW6vwrvM Depending on what style you're going for, telephoto may or may not be what you're looking for. When I look at street shots with a telephoto, it usually looks kinda.... distant.... to me I guess. It's all a matter of opinion though.
I feel you. I like the way things look when they are caught in the moment. But for some reason, I feel like the camera might take too long and the will notice and move away. It was my first time actually doing it. It took a bit of nerve to do haha. Maybe I will take pictures then strike convo if they ask me what the hell I was doing.
thats why i street shoot with my yashica mat now because not many people know its a camera. works perfectly because i can take my time and have them look right at me with out them knowing im shooting them haha
[Broken External Image]:http://rapidhate.org/images/20091024123123_img012.jpg I'm not really happy with this as a photograph, but I'm pretty happy with her reaction. (yashica, of course)
Bruce gilden is not the end all be all of street photography... posting the same shit over and over again is lame, almost as lame as running up on someone with a flash in their face. Just because you have someones permission to take their photo doesn't mean it has to look contrived. You can't just ask someone if you can take their picture and expect them to figure out exactly what or how you want them. Part of being a photographer and working with models or people is being able to communicate what you envision on a level your subject can understand and feel comfortable with.
That's just a little creepy haha. Like mad spy shit. Idk, I just like having a connection with the people in the shots. I think I'm gonna try to take pics first then talk if the notice. People are just too up tight nowadays.
SO! today i learned about Joel-Peter Witkin. If you dont know who this man is you should look him um ASAP his photographs are fucking unreal. you wouldent believe half the shit he photographs. and its all REAL. check him out. learn a thing or two about old photo processes
