Sun Ra's stuff is pretty amazing, one of the first people to utilize an electronic keyboard I'm told. I've long enjoyed his 'Supersonic Jazz.' Interesting reading about him too, claimed he was from outerspace. They say he was so uncool with confrontation when he didn't want people in his band anymore he'd just leave them where they were without saying anything, sometimes in a foreign country.

John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' is cool too. I'm gonna be honest I haven't listened to much beyond that, but its great.

Miles Davis' 'Aghartha' album was recorded half at night and half in the day and JunkBox thinks that is a most nifty fact. Easy Moe Bee of Ready to Die production fame (among other things), prouced Miles' last album, 'Doo-Bop.' Cool Hip-Hop/Jazz synthesis, (Guru of GangStarr's (RIP) Jazzmatazz series I highly recommend, tight tight!~)... Madlib's 'Shades of Blue' album also, good shit!

Theres an electronic music producer named St.Germaine who does this electrojazz stuff thats dope IMO, his 'Tourist' album is cool. Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series is some of my favorite shit too.

Thelonious Monk was amazing, interesting documentary filmed by a young Clint Eastwood of all people called 'Straight No Chaser' is worth checking out, he was an interesting individual. His tunes remind me of the musical equivalent of splattering paint of a canvas for some reason.

Hmmm... Roy Ayers. Stanley Jordan. The almighty Herbie Hancock. Just naming a few more I like there...
