im not sure about that... id rather see something I knew was super fast to do in a highly populated area its inspiring.
Ofcourse you got to respect the detailed art, i like bombing in general aswell so the more detail put into a dangerous spot then the more respect i would have
it depends who your trying to earn respect from.. if you wanna earn respect from the dudes just strait destroying everything and anything in sight then obviously you need to smash everything you can, big, basic, fast, and a clean ass style.. but if you want to earn respect from the dudes that call themselves artist you need to have an artistic side.. personally i try to keep a happy medium of both but i dont do it to impress anyone i do it for me.. they style i write usually depends on my mood.. if ive had a shitty day or im pissed off ill go big and smash shit but if i got a nice high goin and im just tryna relax and paint ill go peice at a chill spot or something
both. I think you should mix it up. I suck at detail, so thats my weakness, my thing to work on. I think its to bad if you just do the same thing for a decade.
If you get up more than the average writer, respect earned. If you detail more than the average writer, respect earned. Basically both, if you do both you're greatly respected imo.
I don't know OP. Both are impressive to me. Just depends on what they look like. Some biggies are eyesores.
Think respect and a writers ability doesnt necessarily go hand in hand. You earn respect from being there, getting up and not being a bellend... To be relevent to the question tho... I'v had more hits on my big stuff than i have on my more detailed stuff... 60 ft blockbuster and 20ft bode woman is still the most viewed/liked thing on my blog/flickr/insta
Honestly i would respect somebody thats up alot woth tags and throwies more than somebody who does pieces.
Putting it at two extremes, I would respect a toy that has his name up in every part of the city than a "writer" that only has his shit in studios and legal walls.
There is people that are king and do amazing pieces on a really easy spot, and then there is the crazy Kung fu mutha fuckas who do crazy shit but it may just be a throwie. I personally give mo respect to the risky spots because u need balls.
artistic shit earns my respect more because its something the next man to step up cant do. dudes who smash my city day in and day out with nice clean throw-ups couldn't piece their way out of a paper bag.
Artistic detail is key. Nothing pisses me off more than the kid in my town who does the same generic throw everywhere. He has a complete lack of artistic talent, which not only means lack of originality but also means lack of consistency due to his inability to pay attention to every detail. We are humans not robots so it can never be perfectly consistent between tag to tag but you gotta pay attention to details like that. its the 'e' at the end of his throw(two damn half-circles) that vary in size the most from way too big to half the letter being covered by the other..
^^This, but also in my opinion, This It's totally subjective so this should really be a poll, but the people that get my respect the most are the ones who go big, destroy shit, hit the heavens, and bomb on a major level. The cats who hit risky and fearless spots, rack up the most property damage, and get their names up EVERYWHERE.
It's 2 different types of respect. It all depends on who you ask. Gotta respect a guy who bombs like crazy and also guy who takes time to learn and get better at details. Everyone has their own opinion, me personally I don't like that Banksy type shit.
