My favorite low-tech (low cost) wheatpaste method is: PASTE: Flour (about 1/3-1/2 cup) Water (About 2 cups) Mix that shit. Put in a water bottle. Use a nail or knife to pop a hole in the cap of the bottle. Add mixer; Screw, nut, etc. (optional) BRUSH: Get brush. Get ziploc bag (preferably 1 gallon bag. Depends on size of brush) Put brush in bag (dry). Get Rubber bands (or tape). Wrap bag tightly around handle, leaving enough room to seal ziploc over end of brush. Wrap w/ tape or rubber band. When using, roll bag back over your hand. When traveling, seal that shit. USAGE: I've had pretty good luck w/ standard 8X10 photocopy paper. Thin enough and stands up to most elements once properly pasted. Squirt paste onto surface to be bombed. brush evenly. Apply poster. Squirt small amount of paste onto poster. brush evenly. Make sure corners and edges are smoothly adhered to surface. Leave. Walk by and admire that shit during the day.
I've used the reverse-bag idea as well, it's a lot better than carrying the brush around. I'm not sure about the mix though, I think cooking is just a better method.
putting up some new stuff tonight. ill try to find my camera so i dont have to keep using my cell phone, haha
Yeah, the last few times I've been out have been spur-of-the-moment, so we had a little less time to prepare. The cooking method I've heard is best, but I've had good luck with the non-cooked method. Also, I have a tendency to go out on more humid, damp nights. This seems to impede the drying, making the adhesion a little more long lasting. Really lets the paste cure to the surface. The morning heat bakes it on nicely.
Work in progress. The poster of me will be accompanied by a 2nd poster with the lyrics to Atmosphere's song "painting".
[Broken External Image]:http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg131/Shadrick15/EF043.jpg I didnt have time to mix the paste good enough, so it came about bieng a bit thick. and the part where the thumb joint is really faded is cause the marker i was using dried out so i barerly got any black for that part. it still holds good, as you can tell by someones futile efforts to tear it off
good stuff, make some more. i just hope you know that people wont really give you props on a custom image, but its still ups lol.
Paste by Rup'e but i was there to take the photo haha. [Broken External Image]:http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x62/crowdedtomb/Wheatie.jpg
^^I'm going to guess since it's your first post, you saw something on page 1 and tried to respond to it about crushing lightbulbs into your paste... haha Agreed. I'm comepletely against it.
i just thought of something that probly done a million times before or mentioned or posted on here but what if you get the newspaper page that has graffiti or a newspaper page with your graffiti in it that would be so dope
This isn't my stencil work it was done by Jerm9ine and Ninja9ine. I just took the picture. A local cop wrote an article about cracking down on local taggers, Sueme in particular.
So i think this was mentioned in an earlier thread, but has anyone tried putting wheatepaste into a marker form? like trying to put it into a mop or something. just curious...
