I am COMA. I have been writing for 12 years and I am the founder of the T17 Crew, originating from West London, UK.

I would define my style as bold, clean, balanced and ‘standing its ground’. My earlier stuff was a lot more repetitive: sharp letters, some say ‘evil looking’ (usually with a humongous, sideways A on the end) so I’ve tried to push myself to paint a wider variety of styles in recent years; with the large scale handstyle walls with the naturally more slant and complex lettering, to the mirrored pieces, where I am using only a lower case ‘a’ to make it work. I always freestyle my pieces on-the-spot as I find working from a sketch restricting. I’d like to think I come up with something which best compliments the space I am presented with.

For me, being a graffer means you have to be able to handle and produce for all aspects of the game. Everything; from tags to pieces, simple to complex lettering, legals to steel and all that comes in between. You have to experience it all, earn your stripes, if you like. If you can’t bomb properly or wasn’t at least once considered to be up, you aren’t a real graffer. Then again, being frank, anyone can get up – that’s just getting up and out your house – It is how you do it that matters for me. There are writers in London who have been up for decades and still struggle to piece something decent… That is not an achievement for me. Neither is robbing toys, for the record. It only means they have an imagination barrier and/or ego issues. Stop hogging and dogging space and move on already! You can probably already tell I am definitely more of a quality over quantity kind of guy, obviously both is desirable… Ultimately though, I rate originality above all else.
