DOWN – Ive been writing graffiti since 2003. Raised in Rochester NY, but have been living in Brooklyn for a little over a decade now. Growing up in Rochester I feel a lot of early influence comes from my local dudes such as Bones FUA (rip), Pen TWD, & Zoer FUA. Other than browsing graffiti.org and benching flicks our scene back then was pretty limited to only a handful who were really rocking quality letters and productions, which I still feel make a large impact on how my wall layout and character themes are developed to this day.
Stylewise I’ve always admired a more organic, well-balanced and intimidating letter structure. Bio-mech, shadowy whips, crispy bevels, an anatomical defense mode in a sense. There’s a few dudes currently pushing really inspirational forms. Distort, Saute, Years, & Paser come to mind. I believe your piece should show strength in both size and vibrancy, I’ve realized proper color coordination really tends to make or break it, so I’ve been working each time I paint trying to incorporate something new and contrasting.
I feel the recent quarantine allowed me to dedicate a solid chunk of time into upkeeping and evolving my style into where I want it to end up. Wasn’t counting on it taking this long to feel the sort of satisfaction I now get from my most recent spots, but “the journey is the destination” As they say. Thankful to be able to continuously grow alongside an eternally progressive community of friends and family.
