Since Banksy and some other street artists painted the security wall in Bethlehem, and especially after the opening of the Walled Off Hotel, flocks of street artists and tourists are going to the nativity city. The wall in Bethlehem is protecting the holy site of Rachel’s Tomb, annexing it to Jerusalem and isolating the Palestinians even more.

You will find many “Banksy Shops” around this area, selling souvenirs to the tourists coming to see the art by the British street art superstar. But clearly not all Palestinians are happy with the art on the wall, writing arabic messages over many murals. After all, this wall is the symbol of their suffering, not a hip open-air museum…
