The group has organized a fundraiser for Saturday at the Miami Rowing Club, adjacent to the stadium.Built in 1964, Marine Stadium hosted powerboat races, concerts, presidential appearances and talk shows. Among the events to be held there through the years were concerts by Key West native Jimmy Buffett and Willie Nelson, an appearance by former President Richard Nixon and a live television airing of Phil Donahue interviewing former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo. In the more than 15 years since it closed, the stadium has been neglected.
