does anyone find that we get alot of new members in the summer that comment on bad pieces or throwies with stuff like 'thats sic'? this is gonna help the person in no way. also, does anyone find it annoying when theirs a crap piece with like 3 toys after it saying 'thats dope', 'agreed' and 'man thats sick'? their should be like an art appreciation thread thing but for graffiti, just pointing out that bars are good, arrows aren't if not used properly and something with bright colours does not make it good etc. edit: actually i might post something like that in the new to graff thread
It's always been like this and there's no way to get it on track really because of turnaround. New members come on, don't know shit, and don't know where to look for shit, and often don't even look at the new to graff thread, and by the time they get accustomed to the forum and get a tiny bit of clue how things run, there's a whole new group of newbies on the forum.
i dunno because i bet theirs quite a few good people that didnt find out about bs from someone who was already a member, maybe they could make people do a quiz or something and you have to have a certain amount right. it could involve pics of crappy barless stuff and nice simple stuff and the person could be asked which is better
you would probably have to change it up though so that people didnt get given the answers by other people

most toys that start off here go on to other forums like 12oz and dont come back... some just quit writing. people come and go..
i get the feeling people dont like toys im new yea...guess that makes me a toy...... everyone makes it seem so bad like being a toy is having the rest of the graff world rippin on you i also play bass... i take that more serious than graff just to get that straight its what i do.....but i do take writing for real.... in my time playing bass i found its alot better to encourage beginners rather than discourage.... i never looked at being a beginner as a bad thing its just....being a beginner....and if everyone rips on you for not being that great makes you feel like shit then you want to stop it all together....which is pretty counter productive if u ask me p.s. second thing i did was read a bit of the new to graff thread
I like BS better than 12oz simply because 12oz is all shit talking (especially in the thread for flicks from my area)... you guys give us newbies helpful pointers and I have yet to meet any serious douches here so yeah.
12oz sucks, plus there at least five indentifiable police officers there and one of them actually imed me a threat of arrest, and when i informed a mod, i got banned.... and an email that said something to the effect of, we think your full of shit, he has a high post count so he's not a cop and you cant lie about it..... this fucker told me he was a vs detective in my area, and was going to bust me.... never happened......but i still believed this guy, and i refuse to go back to 12oz..... they support police arresting their members. @the baconator its not that your a toy, its that your a half ass graffiti writer... ever hear the song shook ones? "aint no such thing as half way crooks" people who do graff cause they get bored, or have downtime are the type of people who will do shit that leads to heat, as someone who has been painting over a long period of time, the amount of heat brought around graff has doubled in the last 5 years, graffiti started as an underground thing, and is now very popular, if there is any hope of saving graffiti its time to back underground, out of sight.... that is why old heads tend to hate on toys, because you will definalty contribute in someway to critical mass.....
i thinks there are different types of toys personally i view myself as the type that understands why we do this each person has a personal view on the matter but none of us are in this shit to look hardcore or show off im in this life because of my personal views on art and how even so called "underground/disenfranchised" art is still mainstream and overrated so i wanted to shut myself off from that world i think all writers should know about the dadaism movement it was a period in which many people began challenging the boundaries of art it was at a time (much like today) when people thought art had to be a certain type of medium or look a certain way and so some ppl started saying toilets were art and called it sculpture in order to challenge the preexisting ideals and values its idiotic that people think that art is determined by location so the mona lisa on a canvas is artistic but if its on a wall illegally its vandalism? even if its the same damn picture? anyways thats why im into graff im just considered toy cuz my style isnt great yet the other toys are just the damn e thuggin show off fuckers who think theyre hard cuz they carry around a sharpie make some kiwi mops pussy! ok rant is over
