dude i wouldnt do felix the cat.he is the signature weatpaste character of one of the best guys in the sydney movement crew.i cant exactly remember his name but a lot of street artists and pasters respect him.hes everywhere.
i had such i hopes for him then again, HE didnt design felix, Pat sullivan supposedly did. And he isnt my main character, just another cartoon to expirment with. Iv also been working with some spy vs spy characters as well, along with a different ideas. i dont live in australia anyways, and as far as i know, your one of the few outside that area to know about him... thnx for the heads up though! edit: i searched "sydney movent crew" and couldnt find anything im kinda interested in what you told me though, so if you could have a link or more info, hit my up for sure..thnx
I never heard of that dude, or that "crew", but who knows, find a link Rupe! "Decadant Trifecta" A combination of Alphonse Mucha, myself, and the graphic novel "Akira". 7ftx5ft.
Damn, nice spot! I put "akira" instead of Otomo, because, to be honest, I wasn't sure who to give credit to.. the creator of the novel, or the art director of it, and I also thought the name would be a little obscure. I wish I had spent more time on that part of the poster, I kinda cut some corners on that part, but I was going on my second night with no sleep and just simplified it as much as possible to get it up when I wanted it up.. If I had to do it over again, I would've thickened some of the lines and used more shading. Woulda popped better. Thanks for the + comments. I'll be making more stuff similiar to this, but smaller scale and hit better spots. As for the smaller version, that was just to work off of for reference. I didn't paste them. I like to do alot of one offs. I'm not sure if I'll be posting alot of my work from here. the net seems kinda hot right now, and I'm putting myself too much in the local publics eyeshot.
here is the dude who does felix http://www.myspace.com/kidkos8 here is the movement crew http://www.myspace.com/themovement2042 basically there mostly pasters and ther hella up
fuckin dope cezr, but not the best spot. the other shitty tags and stuff around it kind of takes away from it..
Ok guys + girls, I'm sitting here eating my chickenless chicken noodle soup, and decided I'd share my way of putting up tiny posters, the kind that will fit in your pockets. You will need: Wheatpaste Posters (I just do a 2 letter throwie on blank paper) Raincoat (with pockets) Backpack* Glove* *Optional Steps: 1)Put on raincoat 2)Put wheatpaste in your right pocket in your raincoat. This will be your "wet" hand, so if you want you can put a glove on your right hand. 3)Put your posters in your left pocket. This will be your "dry" hand *Actually putting up posters* I like to walk around putting up posters like this, because once you get the pattern down you can put posters up in like 5 seconds. You walk around, find wherever you're going to put up your posters, take a big glop of paste from your "wet" pocket, spread it on, take a poster from your "dry" pocket, and put it on. Rub the wheatpaste over the poster, and go hit your next spot. This is just a basic idea, but you can always imrpove upon it with thought + time. An example would be carrying extra posters+ paste in a backpack, and wearing that when you go bombing. Sorry for the long post everyone, just felt this thread needed a bump
^cool idea, and i dont that kid should worry about doing felix, that other artist is in another country, and if it wasint for the internet you would have no idea who he was. and i dont think there has ever ben real beef from street art. ANNDDD, if you call that biting then the first artist is biting the cartoon, and we could argue he or she cant even draw her own cartoon she just copys pastes and prints it out,
Yeah, thats a good idea in theory acerborn, but wouldnt you look a bit conspicious in a rain coat... and it not be raining? as for small posters like that, i just use stickers. I only put up pastes if its bigger then stickers. But it is clever. and I agree with alexhate about the whole biting thing. Really it wouldnt be considered biting since you didnt know the guy did it in the first place. and If theyre not as big as like... obey or someone EVERYONE knows, I think youll be good.
thnx for the link rupe! much appriciated! that was my point when i said he didnt come up with the character, pat sullivan did... its just like the spy vs spy's iv done, i chose them because they are black and white, and cool to mess with the only downfall to that is you kinda gotta make 2 of the at a time, and they can be kind of a pain then i found felix, and he is super easy. he's not like my sig. character, i dont even have one, but hes hella fun to do!
I walk around in my raincoat all the time, even though it's summer, and I've never been pulled over/ questioned on it. I suppose you could use a hoodie as well, but having wheatpaste in a hoodie pocket wouldn't work, and I'm too lazy to get a bag. I usually do wheatpastes this small because I can't really get stickers, not in the amount that I want at least, so I reserve stickers for mostly trades. I just really like this method because you just like have an ipod on, walking down the street, and you can see a line of your little throwups. lol.
walking around in a raincoat with paste in one pocket, and art in the other is odd, but not nessicarily suspicious...if i saw someone walking in a raincoat, i would probably try to sell to them, but i wouldnt ask if they wrote. sounds like a nifty idea, but its no good to me, because i can get stickers, and my posters are bigger than that. i dont have a raincoat anyways
