my bad retro, I remembered piercing guns using a 24g, I was wrong, though. 20 gauge is a normal ear piercing boutique sized needle. Most other piercings are done at anywhere from and 18 to a 14
the piercing studio i worked at started piercings at an 18. i think that they may have had needles smaller for nostrils though. and piercing guns are gross.
I know that, I'd probably go to 3/4 or 11/16 before going to 1", though and I agree that piercing guns are nasty, unsanitary things, but the a lot of people that pierce their ears (without intent to stretch) get them done with one.
for someone who doesnt want to jump a huge gap it is. if your skin is delicate and you have had problems stretching before then you want to stretch as slowly as you can. that is why people use electical tape and wrap it around their jewelry while preparing to go to the next size. well, not the sole reason, but one of them.

Ay but frills... Im looking to get a tat this week and need someone with some nice script. Anyone any good at lettering? I know im going to ask the tattoo dude to draw something up, but i wanna get a few ideas.
chances are they will have a book full of different scripts, or a computer full of different fonts. just pick a nice one.
I'm not hating on script tattoos, they can look dope. Paragraph long script tattoos normally don't, though.
