i haven't read any of the previous posts, other than the first. But here is my opinion.

what happens after you die is exactly what was going on before you were born.
you don't exist in any form or fashion.
even if heaven or hell existed, they wouldn't exist in any way described by scripture simply because all 5 of our senses are dependent on our physical body, our nerves and our brain to process the information. After our body dies we would no longer have nerves, a brain, or any senses to experience the beauty of heaven or the pain of hell.
Thus any afterlife resembling a glorious paradise or a fiery underworld does not exist.

If this scares you, don't worry. There is no pain or eternal darkness if you don't exist.

When I was a little kid I once thought about being in heaven and what it would be like for the first time and it made me anxious. I guess people who were exposed to religion don't really think about what they are told and they just take it. When I thought about what heaven would be like I thought of going insane because I knew I would be conscious forever...

    Reincarnation doesn't work because
    1) if there were 5 souls at one point that were going through the cycle, how did we get to this many souls existing today?
    2) the life to death ratio is way off

I don't really know much about reincarnation, but i'm pretty sure the life to death ratio doesn't matter cuz you don't always come back as a human...

I think death is just the end. everything stops and you are at rest. no after life or anything like that

If souls did reincarnate as other animals, then that means all other animals would be equal to that as humans, and the laws of life should apply to them as well (thou shall not kill)
Which means killing animals not for food would be murder. But then the bible is wrong.

Seperately, if the birth rate exceeds the death rate, then where did the new souls come from? But if the death rate exceeds the birth rate, where do the souls go? This means not every soul is rencarnated right away, which I suppose supports the theory of an afterlife.
The soul waiting room would be "the afterlife" until you get rencarnated. Possibly several decades later.

but memory is stored in your brain, which goes away after death, so how does your soul remember anything? The soul might have some compacity for memory, but only special things, which leaves you with no memory of any other life, or just hazy memorys or special things, which could support the idea of "soulmates"

So if reincarnation is real then the afterlife exists, and "heaven" or "hell" could be whatever your next life ends up being based on karma. Bad people come back as a crappy animal on a lower rung of the karmic ladder. What is that, hindu?
That religion could actually be right.

So if souls are real, then the afterlife COULD exist.
And, now that I think about and really examine it, souls could very well be real.

    Wow.

haha i was thinkin that too about reincarnation. it doesnt happen right away you chill until yor chosen then you live that life but as for the souls im stumped. when i was younger i used to think about heaven and then id keep thinkin and thinkin just how forever is a REALLY long time and it terrified me but i actuaaly hope reincarnation exists. but they say humans get most of there behaviors from parents and genes but everyone has starnge ways about them that cant be explained. pastlife maybe? saw it on a show one time.

edit: now that i think about it even if the born to death ratio favors the born side these could be souls who have been waiting to be placed back on earth plus like jerm said we dont know if everyone comes back as a human

Death itself is the very essence of heaven.
You never want, worry, hate, envy, cry, mourn, stress, ever again.
You never have another problem for the rest of eternity. No more insurance, no more worrying about your retirement, nomore hassle, no more working a shitty job, no more bills, no more responsibilty. It's a complete release from all earthly problems and desires.

Look into Astrology. Birth signs and planet transits are really intriguing when you really learn about them.
The position of the planets and stars upon your birth have an impact on your personality and daily feelings.

But death would also be the end to seeing the people you care about and the end of being in love, or any other wonderful thing.

    Biblically, that's also true.
Not only are all your earthly troubles removed, so are 'earthly pleasures.'
Including love for another, sex, family. It's all just training for when you get 'there,' and then none of it matters anymore.

Ill never hear the end of this, but whatever its the internet. I'm a Christian, but before you jump down my throat or make some kinda remark, you'll never catch me trying to shove my beliefs down someones throat. I believe what i believe and it makes me happy, i want other people to find that kinda thing, but im not about trying to convert people all the time. Anyways thats what i believe.
