Did you get a little paper book called the 'Manual' with your camera?

    Read it

it's gotta be set on manual or shutter priority i think and you spin the little scroll wheel thingo til you find what speed you want, on a side note you better have a tripod for night shots or prop your camera on something, i personally only shoot on manual so i can fuck with the shutter and aperture separately

The best way to learn things is screwing around with stuff. At first I would just switch the aperature, shutter speed and ISO until i found something that worked. Now I know wha i'm doing after having expierience and talking to people. I only shoot manual too.

Yes you will have to focus it everytime, until they bring out a fisheye with a focus motor on it.

All good fisheyes are around the same price. If you want a cheap fisheye, try this one. Ignore other cheaper fisheyes.

its not exactly cheap but its an alternative to the nikon.

Just get the damn nikon one.

    10.5mm.

But would those lenses would auto focus and canons or other cameras?

I'm probably not gonna get any new lenses yet. I didn't even get a camera yet! I'm just trying to learn more about them and which ones to get.

All canon EOS lenses have the focus motor on the lens itself. SO any canon lens focuses on any canon EOS camera.

But this means their newer lenses do not mount AT ALL on their old pre EOS film cameras.

Nikon fisheyes at the moment only focus on cameras that have the focus motor inside the camera, eg, D80 and up.

All this talk of fisheyes on dx format sensors, the crop factor is going to make it look different than everything thinks its going to, with the nikon fisheye on the d40 theres no circle or anything like an cheap adapter.

Not if you buy a nikon DX fisheye. The 10.5mm is DX and the 16mm is for FX sensors.

This is why you must save for the nikon rather than get a cheaper brand

Yeah, it's crazy sharp. Get one, you will probably find one for under $500 used on ebay.

They autofocus on any nikon DSLR that ISN'T a d40, d40x, d60, d3000 or d5000. If you own any of those cameras, the lens will NOT auto focus on it.

If you own a nikon DSLR that is better than said cameras, it will autofocus. Why is this so hard to understand?

Alright I understand now. So pretty much only works on the better cameras?

I've never really used manual focus. How hard is it to do?

i use manual for macro shots, i zoom in as much as possible and then proceed to find my focus afterward, not too hard, if you can't get it just right, adjust your focus while on burst shot so you get multiple focal points in the same composition
