Question about shaking your cans.

For how long do you need to shake it? most people say around 1½ minute, but imo thats quite long if you're out in the streets. Since I bomb in a small city you can hear that shit across the whole city lol.

And how often is it required? Once per bombing trip? Once each 15 minutes? Each tag?

I mostly use Montana black. (sorry for the toy question, but hey its in the toy section ;P)

 

I use painters touch. But I usually shake them for about 15 seconds. Just enough to get the balls rolling. Then spray for a second to clear the stem and make sure colored pigment comes out.

 

When color is coming out the cap and it doesn't look like silly string you've shook it enough, depends on the paint, Abe is right though, a few seconds is all it normally needs unless it's really cold. Some colors, like a few of the greens need a good mix though, otherwise you could get halfway down the tin and your fill changes color. You shouldn't need to keep shaking it while painting either.

I live in sweden.
We got jackshit here when it comes to paint.
Like no stores sell paint and when they do its complete shit, like it comes out a bubble of dust spelling out kill me when you spray it.
So theres not really a point even trying to rack that shitty paint.
Montanas are cheap, like 5$.

 

With any spray can the first goal of shaking it is to mix the paint up nicely. You dont necessarily need to shake it like you beat your dick and make a bunch of noise.

Personally, I like to swirl a paint can around like im trying to mix around the ice and alcohol in a glass; fast enough to mix my drink, but not too fast to avoid spilling any of the precious happy liquid. Are you of drinking age out there in sweden my friend? If so you should have the technique down to a science. Works really well, especially with the cans that have multiple marbles in them.

Second reason to shake a can, is to try to squeeze every drop possible out when theres barely any paint left. shaking it builds some pressure and helps some of the tiny amount left get into the valve and spray cleanly. if youre desperate enough that u need that last bit of paint while in a spot you think someone can hear it theres no hope to be silent.
