Actually, I'm fairly certain that's not the case with Loon. You backbiting that hard only proves his point, you know. His critiques ring true. You can't be selective and only listen to people because you like them. You'll never learn all that you can that way. You say he's being "kind of nasty", but did your mother never tell you that to make accusations and assumptions about someone's personal life is also very rude? This thread should not be a place for such ridiculousness. It's truly the mark of a noob artist to get that huffy and defensive over your artwork at even the slightest harshness in a review. Fact of the matter is that every artist must take the critiques that rip them to shreds, because they're often the most helpful. I even translated everything he said into "nice" speak. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. This scene is harsh, and if you expect everyone to babysit you, you're really setting yourself up for disappointment. No one can hold your hand forever, and at some point you will be held accountable for producing results yourself. No one else can make your progress for you. If you don't trust him, at least trust me: his advice is solid. He's not just attacking you for the hell of it. He's showing you what you don't want to see so you can overcome it and get better.
Kaps2 as a word of advice, don't fuck with loon. He might act like shit sometimes but he has more years of experience than you. Yeah he might say you're shit, but if he does then your piece is shit in one way or another. And what TanZ is saying is 100% correct. You're going to have to deal with your fair share of "Your shit" before you get anywhere man.
I deleted my post i sometimes wonder why the hell i bother... i don't see any improvement. And btw puts i only got 6 months of experience so your right about that... But thanks tanz and puts as well as loon. I am sorry i just don't really respond well when people use words like "shit" and are very blunt. I will try and not take it so personally next time lol.
Btw i don't know if its just me but i much prefer doing tags and throw ups over pieces. I am going to try and learn basic straight letters cause i want to sometimes make my name big. But does anyone else feel that they just enjoy tags more? Maybe its because i am not very good at pieces. I don't know.
Cl4 Keep working on making your letters very simple. Also whats going on with the T top in side the R? Other wise keep going!
Don't take it personal I'm talking bout ur letters. But your not gonna see improvement for years. I'm on my 3rd or 4th year writing and didn't see improvement til maybe this year. It took this long to finally be satisfied with something I put up. Keep at it but help yourself before you expect anyone else to help you. And as I said before be happy doing simps and straights cuz like I said I'm about 4 years in and I'm still rocking simple letters.
Just to show u some evolution lol I put these up like 3 years ago. No structure at all just trying to get ahead of myself To this from couple months back. Much simpler but because I spent years working on nothing but structure and letters it looks 100x better
Thanks loon. I dig your work. Its just the "K" seems to be off for the second one. I LOVE the last one on the train. Keep it up man. Out of interest why do you think graffiti takes so long to master?
There's not supposed to be a K, I don't think. They're Ns. But maybe I can answer your question as to why writing/graffiti takes so long to master: because it's an art form. Like every other craft, it has foundations and rules, and it takes time to get to know your media, your materials, your rules, and to build up from there. But, of course, before you get to know your materials (e.g. spray paint, good markers), you have to understand your subject. As I've said before, "if you can't draw it with a pencil, you probably can't draw it at all".
Loon has a greater bombing history than most of the cats here.. still getting hatd on that hallooween piece with the pumplin 2 years ago
Tanz, spot on! Really agree with what you been saying @Dan: I'm gonna love to see that with color. I think its a little confusing with the 3d and stuff but i bet its gonna look fire! Is this terk? was late for the battle but here it is I need crits! It's about my letter structure right? C'mon bring it on, i know i probably should still be doing straight bar letters, but i just get bored of it…i know i'm not there yet, but give me your opinion guys!
