im new myself and yeah my first three throwies were absolute dog shit but i did them at some abandoned movie theater so i didnt really give a fuck. i cringe everytime i go there though. honestly the way u u filled these in is what killed me the most lol.

i definitely suggest exploring your area and find some lowkey spots. being new to this, and also being in high pressure situations will make ur pieces look even worse. im still learning this myself tho lol

Yeah dude Im still practicing too trying to get my can control down. Its best to just find chill spots under bridges and shit where you don't have to worry about getting caught and take my time.

just got into graff a week ago, been tagging about to go and do my first throw up tn, very excited. can't believe i'm able to sketch this easily now as I couldn't do a single letter a few days ago.

As someone who’s new to graff also, the best advise I can give is to keep it simple. Start with the basics. Work on your hand style. Build up a solid tag, then once you get your tag how you want it start making the same tag fatter. Work on your letter structure and use that to build up to a throw up. Also if you can meet people more experienced than you and paint with them they can give you pointers on the fly. The throw up I have now I actually got from someone. He painted my name and told me to practice it until I could do it with my eyes closed and that’s what I did. Once I had it down pat I started to add or change things about it to put my own style onto it.

Also, not sure how many people in here are into PC and VR gaming but I have KingSpray for my oculus rift and that has helped me out a lot and saved me a load of money. I’ve also met a bunch of really cool people on there that are way better than me and they have helped me out a lot.

You have to have an oculus or a vive. But it’s on steam. It’s a great way to practice without worrying about anything. You don’t waste money, you don’t have to be worried about being embarrassed for doing a shitty throw up or anything.

Getting up is getting up, as long as it can be seen by somebody you're etching your mark. I agree with pen and paper to get a basic letter structure but going out and practicing with cans, caps, spots, is so much more. You're learning how different cans handle, how to use the caps, how to not be shook when a car drives by. Also drawing in a book won't get you clean lines or stop a shaky hand.

That's true though man, I once asked this dude if there was a work around to get better at can control faster. Nope.. You just got to get your hands messy over and over again till the paint starts doing what you want it to do. Last night when I did this throw on a construction site like forty feet from the road two cops drove by with their sirens on just after I got finished with the fill and a car pulled over for them literally just behind me. If I had experienced that same thing when I just started writing I would have probably said fuck it and left while I was ahead.

You don't just get can control you get some balls when bombing spots that are more and more dangerous.

Yea i can agree with that...you do grow some balls being in certain situations! Like you said cops driving by and sketchy people can make you not finish if your nervous...i actually think i have that problem a little lately. Been nervous going out cause im about to get married so i REALLY dont want to get caught up in some shit so ive been just drawing alot
