Certainly needs some flare. I'm still quite new to tagging and graff writing. I've had the worst time trying to manipulate letter structures when it comes to handstyles. I would suggest holding your tagging apparatus in a number of different grips / slants / angles. Study different fonts / letter styles / other writers. To be completely honest, this has yet to be called or considered a tag, it is in it's simpliest form / standard handwriting. Think of your tag as your signature to the world, is this how you want the world to recognize you and remember you by?
Take the time scroll through the pinned thread "Tags" in the Toy Forum. Plenty of ideas as to what a tag should resemble.
A bit better! Keep at it. Z has a bit of style, now its time to work out the other two letters. Work on flow, fluid motion throughout the whole tag.
Can you also tell me your opinion about my first throw up. The fill in paint was a shitty one from... I dont even remember but outline was with montana black. Its my first throw up ever and ive been into graffiti for almost 2 weeks. Opinions?

My throwie game is trash, but, just like with the tag, see where you can tweak your letters making them more interesting rather than looking like basic bubble letters. You'll get it

Needs some work, experiment with sketching out variations before hitting the wall, it's good help you immensely. And not looked forced.
I'd suggest since you're still new to graffiti that you should just practise your tag over and over again it's important that you learn letter structure and have a nice clean tag, also id suggest that you mess around with one liners a bit. One liners really helped me out a ton once I got a decent hand on em. You def have a cleaner tag then me when I first started two years ago
Looks like SAPP. I love that youre keeping it simple. This is lessom #1 and you heard it and listened and i cant say enough good things about that. BUT (and this is gonna be annoying to hear) IMO you're gonna need to stick with something like your first pic for a while. Just instead of focusing on how "cool" it looks, or what you can do to make it more fancy, focus on 2 things. Write it 100 times every day for 2 months and every time you write it ask yourself 2 questions: 1) how clean is it?; and 2) are the marks i made the same as i meant to make them? Often you can go into a tag, intend to make one line, make another and think "eh it still works" and it probably does, but in those moments, its easy to overlook that it only happened because you have poor control. Only when you make the exact mark you meant to make can you make moves towards leveling this tag up in any way. If you can't guarantee you will make the mark you want, how can you really experiment with new ideas? 50/50 you'll even be able to replicate the accidents that you liked. What is in your head and whats on the paper/wall/whatever will always look frustratingly different and control will be the reason. Btw this isnt a diss at all. Just keep writing words every day. Hold the marker right (lock your wrist and write with the whole arm and not just the hand and write your letters BIGGER like 1-3 tags a page max), and write any word over and over and i guarantee youll learn so much by yourself without even trying. But for perspective i did this exercise in these 200pg lined books and it took until probably around book 11 until i noticed any improvement and 16 or 17 until i started to even move out of the "absolute toy" stage (in my mind anyway). Thats like... 3000+ pages and i wasnt a pro... i was like, able to trick kids on discord into thinking i was cooler than i am and who the shit cares about what they think, anyway? Point is it can take a long time for some people so i hope you got some funky tunes to listen to while you do it, but you're on the right track
ok thank you, now should i stick with writing this tag over and over again every day( like i used to do with all my tags and still do( i have written 3 blackbooks now)) or practice different words like random name tags just so i can get a better handstyle overall? i think i should do both
Just answered your own question Definitely agree its good to do both. You dont wanna be one of those people that can only write one word in one style and thats it. At least i dont, and id guess you dont either. Plus its SO BORING to just do one tag all the time. I would rotate between my word and random words AND rotate between tag > throw > piece (no particular order) just to keep it fresh for me. So you can be doing tags that say "TAG" one day and the next youre working on an outline that says "supercalifragilisticexpialadocious" and then go to a 2 letter throw, like it keeps it interesting and fun for you which will make you do more practice in the long run
Oh and another exercise for control (bit controversial but just be smart with it) is to copy tags you like to see if you can get it to look the exact same way. Obviously keep those to yourself, but its a hella good way to work on control because its always obvious when you make a mistake because theres a reference for what its supposed to be.

Out of curiosity, why did they suggest that? Tbh id rather steer clear of suggesting one or the other. Not only do i not know anything about you, where youre at, where you live or the laws there, i also have my own opinions about what people "should" do and they wont necessarily be correct OR helpful to you. All i will say is that markers have less variables and less parts, which would be good for someone looking to focus on something else (like how their tag looks, for example) plus they are lighter and make less noise than cans.
