Put this together for my Sons birthday. It's maybe the fifth piece I've done in my first book. Trying to keep it simple.
I agree. They are not writers and requested that it be easily readable by everyone. Tried to keep it very basic. I had to switch up the overall layout as well. Here is the original drawing I based it off of.
This is not about the complexity of letters but about accuracy, details. For example, black the inscription is ok
The letters are what a toy thinks of doing, if it was for people who couldn't read graff you should have rocked a simple and did a color scheme. It's obvious you have art skills but the graff is toy.
They specifically asked for a greyscale piece so I couldn't do a color scheme. I get that you may think the letters are toy but can't you explain WHY? It's tough to make improvement without some direction!
I think Eloe did a good job pointing out what makes that piece bad. You're capable of doing better, based on seeing you do that chisel tip marker style "the", but your approach you've chosen for the berrys is too forced. The way you attack an r reeks of beginner forcing aesthetics. The Rs dont match it was suppose to be in the same font within the piece right? Make it so, make the r's match. It looks stiff and awkward. Practice graffiti that looks more like that "the". It looks authentic. Like actual graffiti writing. A piece is just a big tag with bits and add ons and colors but it still resembles tagging and there are many nuances to it, flow, structure, etc. Looks like you dont understand this yet. Or may be you think you might but you're just not there yet mentally. I can tell cause your tags are weak, and usually when someone's tag is weak it effects almost everything graffiti related that they do. I've seen this so many times with mad different writers, ones I've met ones I havent. Work on your fucking tags bro. It all stems from that. Here's a little face throw up for all the talk
Nice pieces Satire! Covid19 is our bi-weekly battle word this time(in the toy section). You should drop your piece over there with ours!
