Hey cunts,i need some help here

so...i have a fuckload of printer toner and was wondering if its worth keeping as its pretty expensive,i was thinking it would be like printer ink, guess im a noob, its black misty powder

reminded me of some pics of ink pigments ive seen, but i tried mixing it with turps,it works but the powder sort of settles under some of the alcohol after a short while(like most marker paints, but this is ink supposed to be ink right :/)also when u write with it,it sort of dries back into a powdery consitancy after a few seconds too, rubs off like powder.

so the question is,what in the fuck do i do with it?theres more available btw.

    cheers,jape.

hey man thats a black pigment then not a dye the pigment has to be binded with the solution as it cant be disolved you can buy some oil or acrylic binders from most art stores just ask them for the best methods for making acrylic/oil paint then add more pigment and thin it to an ink consistencey

the problem with alot of toner is that besides the pigments in it, there are synthetic compunds that wont work with a binder. alot of toner actualy has small plastic powder in them to make them run resistant on paper if it gets wet. ive been tryign to find a way to mix the stuff cuz i have buckets full of every color toner they make haha. I work at a printer place thats how i no this stupid shit. ill work on it summore and let u no what i find.

edit: toner is mixed with a polymer, and needs to be heated to bond to a surface. so to make it usable in inks, u gota find a way to seperate the polymers from the pigments. or ull have to light ur ink on fire to melt it haha

Toners are mixed with Polymers. (symilar to PVA and ones in acrylic paint)..
ive had troubles with these in the past. but the pigments are quite decent.

    Take your toner..

take a miture of 1/5 alcohol to 4/5 water..

mix it as best as you can.. and microwave.. ionising and heating till all moisture is gone.. repeat this twice.. then there you go. :D usable.

After i mix the paint and water and shake it up is it normal for like maybe over night you look at it and i looks like the water is on top of the paint??? I no its acrylic base so i don't think water should be a problem? am i doing something wrong here? am i missing something? I know for a fact i didn't add to much water....
