as many of you might know from recent news specifically two consecutive toronto sun articles yesterday and front page today (friday) about a store owner opposing the city's order to remove a pieced wall. The city had this bylaw of forcing storeowners to remove graffiti for a long time and the bylaw officers have been doing their regular spring clean up buffing for years when the owners dont remove the graffiti themselves now but this year they've been doing it very heavily buffing even more places than they've done previous springs. Also this year the city wants to convert legal pieced walls into more "community friendly art" which does not include graffiti art but has flowers or people drawings. Thats is what they are telling the owner of the legal wall on the Beach area owner to do if she doesn't want to repaint the wall grey. They probably can't do this on the queen street west alleys and queen and dufferin alleyways because they are designated as an art district. But they’ve started doing this conversion on the keel subway station wall (not all, but most of the keele wall legals). And if it proves successful they will start doing this art conversion into many more places. my opinion is that, if you care about the state of good graffiti in toronto, do not let the city think they can win the fight on graff because if they manage to make the store owners get in the routine of cleaning up any kind of graff, the owners will prefer the idea of having no graffiti at all, instead of choosing to allow pieces. the way to fight this is by constantly tagging over buff walls so hopefully the stores give up and chose to have pieces instead of tags and throws. but this would take a long time and many layers of buff. the point is, this would be a good time to get more permission walls --->>(referring to the good writers and I am not talking about permission to repaint already pieced walls, I mean new spot permissions) before the city buffs bombed walls and convinces the owners to always keep them clean, because after the cleaning occurs it would be almost impossible to get new permissions anymore. Don’t hate on my opinion of maintaining our walls. I’m just doing my part trying to fight the city council’s stupidity and ignorance of deciding what’s appropriate art because they’re wrong. some buff spots if flicked View attachment 374769 View attachment 374770 View attachment 374771
Yo "only me" whats with all the stupid questions? You're either 10 years old and need to shut the fuck up or you're a cop and need to get the fuck outta here. Either way FUCK OFF!
And for the record the main SDK crew is from France, they been around over 20 years and made the Pure Hate videos (I think thats what the videos were called). In Canada theres two SDK chapters, one in BC (Stomp Down Crew) and one in Toronto (Suckas Don't Know). As with a lot of old crews that started before the internet was a major source of graff communication, different groups of writers from different parts of the world ended up with the same abbreviated crew names. Theres also SDK's in L.A. and one on the East Coast of the U.S. (I don't know of exactly where).
