You cant justify doing graffiti, its illegal and its wrong,
But, my theory of Law is ''its legal if you dont get caught'', and I support JETPACK, cuz i'd be doing some much more stupid shit if it wasent for graffiti.
+ You add color to the boring little man dressed in gray that takes the same route everyday to go to work to do the the exact same thing for his whole life. You add action in there lifes and in youre own.
I cant legally justify doing graffiti and everybody have there own reason for doing it.

im not sure how i justify it...i look at it as a creative outlet and when im burned from everyday life shit, writing is the way that loosens my mind up and helps me relax...simply destroying isnt the way to go around unless you have a large point your trying to get across...i guess in the end if our government can justify what they do then i could find a reason to justify what i do

I agree with jet. Im edge n such, so I've spent a lot of time sitting at parties watching everyone do coke n get drunk n fuck eachother n that shits just not for me. Graffiti makes me happy and bcuz of it im now getting a job in the art world. So its justified to my life and has made mine better, but i dont think its a justified thing. Bcuz no matter what, if you really write, you cant deny ur breaking the law, right?

... you guys sound like absolute retards.

it's not justified because it's 'illegal'

    What is 'illegal'

A bunch of conservative assholes in parliment that decide against something because they don't understand it, or care to understand it.

So if it was legal and we could paint on people's properties. it'd be justified?

Simple as that, stop fucking writing if you don't think it's justified.
Don't wreck because it's 'fun' or whatever the fuck the rest of you idiots do it for.

You write because it's either the only way to express the complex of your mind, or because you're part of the revolution.

Other then that, stick to your mark echos getting up.

    Fuckin toys.

Graffiti isn't justified. How can public and private destruction possibly be justified? If you believe it is, you're a delusional idiot.

    Sketching is non-issue, really.

When people tell me that they love my work (which they do often at my cafe), I think it's justified. When the people that see it daily actually like looking at it and seeing it on a regular basis, that fact alone justifies it.

Fuck all you d-bags who want to talk shit about my post, too, cuz I know you're gonna. A few of you have seen my throwups and tags and I know your gonna say some shit, but for those of you that've seen my stencils and stickers, you know what I said^ is what it is.

i wrote a thirrty page essay on this exact topic for school last year
sosall im gonna say is that since writing has manifest inside of me as such a large portion of my life that all of my emotions toward it could not be expressed in a bombingscience post. and to everybody else, stop bitchin at each other for having an oppinion on why they write. i think you forget that everybody else on the planet isnt a clone of you and ithink you forget that graffiti is universal and it doesnt take any one sort of person to have this inside of them. graffiti isnt any one thing, graffiti isnt just a form of self expression, graffiti is also not just a form of vandalism nor can you legitamately blame it on troubled youth or anything for that matter. it is universal; it is everything and nothing in one; graffiti is human

deffinitly not justified and anyone who says "im doing it to make the grey city walls look better" or something like that should think that there are some legal ways to do that that dont involve makeing people pay money out of there own pockets to get your art of there buildings.

I think the one unique thing about graff is the context that it's in. Would you ever find a dali or a painting of a church or something of that nature on an old scummy wall? No. Thats what makes it so unique and keeps the art form fresh after 40 or so years. I dont think you can really justify it as it all comes down to opinions. It's become more of a culture than just "damaging property" and (real) graff represents so many things. Art, typography, colours, music:hip hop, funk etc,hip hop culture and the 4 elements, artistic skill, individualism,it can represent peoples life and their influences, it represents an adventure or a mission and what the writer had to do to get his piece there and so many other things. To cast it off as just damaging property is stupid.

The government and any one else who strongly opposes it should do some actual real research into it first. Maybe more spending should be diverted away from buffing and chasing writers and put into more important issues. I know of some cases where rapists and paedophiles have got less time in prison than graffiti artists. I hate the fact that government base their policies on graffiti around the broken window theory, which is just a THEORY, and not proven.

If you try to "justify" or "rationalize" what each one of us do your going to find out that the more people you ask the farther apart each answer will be. Answers for one will never fit another, and personally when I think about it, it ruins the experience for me. It's raw, or produced, fast or slow, colorful or black and white. It's what you make of it and why I do it? Because everyone talks about hitting bridges or certain spots, but no one makes it happen, and when I do it puts me on a different level. I do it because no one else will. At least in my area.

a lot of these responses pretty much sum up why i do graff
writing on public walls just gives me a sense of freedom which im proud to have.. even if its illegal i feel free
graff is a unique art form and is fun
some people consider it a 'special talent' which i sorta lol

just like i can't justify taxing from foil bags, hassling random cunts, warring with other towns and stealing shit i don't need, i can't justify doing graffiti and am not really bothered that i can't. it's just a thing that i have done am doing and will do.
obviously tagging doing throw ups and pieces on private/public property is wrong, when it comes down to it some poor cunt has to pay for it to be cleaned, but i don't care.
