The most knowledgeable people who frequent this thread are Biz, H3TT, Olick, Montana, and myself.
I'm not saying we know the most (except for biz) but we know more than most and are in here all the time.

    I have a question..
I have seen many times that writers use shoe dye...
    Like Griffin..
    so my questions are:
Is/was Griffin shoe/leather dye the same as other shoe/leather dyes?
What are good additives (Meth blue??) ?..
I don`t really have any money now(I`m a student) and
so I don`t want to waste any money..(I can`t rack because I have
    some court shit coming up)

    cheers

Okay , If your talking about what I think you are talking about then it should go like this. The reason some paint beads up over metallics is that the metallics are usually oil based and the paint your spray over the metallic paint, isn't oil based and there fore cannot adhere. Some companies get by this with Bitumen Based e.g. Molotow Coversall.

Im not saying all , but yes , some companies do use different bases

    example

Molotow have a silver in their normal Belton range ( I think the pigments in this are acrylic and is Nitro Alkyd based ). If I spray over that silver with another belton it wont bead.

Molotow also make Silver Burner , now this is oil/bitumen based. If I spray over this silver with a belton it would bead as each of their bases is different. That why molotow made coversall as its the only suitbale base to cover silver.

Hope I made that a bit clearer.

    Not always.
Because if you want the stain to be stronger
all you have to do is put some in there after its
dried out then let it sit for like a day or two
once it is fully dissolved then you can add a bit
more and wait for that to dissolve.
Adding water is just taking away from the staining
power. So if the dried out form in there then it
won't take anymore then don't put anymore in.
But with the water you might be able to add a bit
more but it isn't going to change much.

mb already has water in it. its meant to be put into water so its not like you're killing it. adding a bit of water would improve it's dissolving rate and if you're boiling the mb to evaporate the water, i suggest you evaporate about 85% of the water and just add the ink and boil it together so it fully mixes and it'll evaporate excess water.

if you're not sure about it, let some salt sit in a cup of room temperature water, and let some salt sit in boiled water. you'll see that the one in boiled water dissolves faster.
