MQ was born and raised in DADE and didnt move to NY till his carreer had already begun, so is NEWS.

SHIE and Mr.CUE45, west coast transplants. Both made waves here, styles still being used today. The FBA guys, we dont even need to get into the lasting impact those guys made here, they are staples.

KOOL MIKE129 BASER, from all these writers mentioned years and years of style have been spawned, while there might not have been 50 writers from other places the few that were here, were here, and left lasting impacts and style legacies for the younger generations to fall in line. quality over quantity.

And lets not forget the fact that some of our most prominent writers we call our own, were in fact born in the motherland, CUBA.

And in recent times, SLAE from Tcp is a transplant who has been putting in tons of work down and while we might see him as our contemporary, the next generations will remember his name. AcME aswell.

You gotta remember you are from a pre-internet, barely any magazine time, the writers you mentioned were your peers, so from your perspective you were doing peices they were doing peices, but to the generations that came 4 5 6 generations later those peices serve as guidance whose blueprints should be followed strictly.

The peices done here by out of towners in the 80s and 90s and today separate Miami from a city whose writers bit style from those places, to a city whose writers were given style from those places and passed it on.

We do not have a little scene here where one guy got a copy of subway art and a krs1 tape and from him maybe 20 kids did graffiti in that town like Jacksonville,
or Tallahassee, we are a major hub for graffiti with a rich history of style and generations upon generations of good writers who learned the ropes from masters.

Miami was always in the top 4 cities for American graffiti as far as style is concerned, even our toys had better handstlyes than prominent writers in different cities. Over the past couple of years (the 2000's) it has been overshadowed and come to the point that nobody from anywhere even wants to attempt to get involved in our politics down here and we arent even allowed to have threads showcasing our city on other graffiti websites.

The whole point I was trying to make was, these guys that came here for BASEL 08 were for the most part, all friends of someone who lived here, whether it be Ether through the MUL dudes, or the MSK's through Crome and Beno Rip, Miami is not the city that gets all huffy puffy about tourists doing graffiti, and it is sad to watch it become that way especially after returning from the most extreme hater city in the world for the past 4 years where dudes shit their pants when they see a white out pen tag from a non-local. To come back here and see this hatred for out of towner poison running through the veins of our community is a damn shame and we might need to take a step back and appreciate what transplants and style donors have done for us.

    In conclusion... Change 09!!!!

pretty good statement. but WHO is hating on the tourist coming here to paint. only tourist in recent history that got handled was ceaze a few years back for painting with the gays. a phone conversation came out of it. he stopped and left and that was it. also C45 came down and handled beef and got dissed by it seemed everyone after he left. gusto also came and did his thing.
damn i really feel bad for leaving out CUE45 out, HE REALLY influenced alot of the styles atleast in our group. Shie not so much, i dont think that i have ever looked at someones elses piece and said that they bit shie.
also M's carreer was made in NY period. he really did nothing here before and was a bigtime writer before he came here in the late 80's.
Miami is Miami. beef, buff and the large amount of snitching has been here for the last 15 to 20 years and it has made miami writers strong and hungry. thats life and one week of artbasel like the pro-am before MOST likely aint going to change shit. I did not start writing to go to paris, but i guess some others did!

If you go 15 pages back and keep moving forward you will see a shitload of comments of people griping about the Altoids wall. Aside from that the general feeling I got from most people I saw on the street over the past month or so if they were not on that new run of the wall they were pretty negative about it.

That wall turned out to be a migraine for most of the people who were trying to organize it, in my personal opinion it looks cool, I thought the Altoids wall was cooler because it was all names I grew up on, but it was worn and torn, and the pictures had been posted so many times that they got watered down, I'd rather it look today the way it does now than how it did 2 months ago, it was a disgrace. Like scotty said, that wall will be buffed whenever the city feels like it, and the art collectors really cant do shit about it.
But the fact that dudes were on here complaining and then the whole back and forth on here with the cali guy, when theres a bunch of writers from other places here and they do stuff kids from their cities look at our threads and see all of us complaining about the wall its not a good look.

I wont argue about whose from where but you should get a definite answer on that one guy because i know for fact he was from here and then moved there, and then would come back all the time to see family, from the horses mouth.

My statements were not a critical analysis where I was attacking anyone in particular, they were more for educational purposes, you know how it was when i was over there, and you said yourself a million times miami has never been the city to shit on out of towners, so when i see it starting to happen here i take it to heart because it was always my main argument on the road when people would gripe about me not being from wherever i was, and I would try to teach those people to stop being so ignorant about shit and be more accepting.

If someone tells me that someone not from here did a good spot I will go check it out and most probably flick it that doesnt make me a 15 year old jock trying to get my blackbook signed standing around the wall that im not painting it just means game reckognize game. I think its cool that those guys came here and painted walls because now I dont have to get on a plane or even worse online there to see their stuff.

I will go back to lurking in the backround now, the fact that I got to double digits on posts on here really pissed me off.

can't forget Once, and when those CBS cats went to the real Miami pennant and hit it up so this has been going on for a while. And if the Oldschool heads don't like that they went over their productions ..let it ride for a while then burn the wall nicely end of story.
