No, it is true. If you have less than a certain amount ($20 I believe) then they make no attempt to persue you. They ask you to come with them, and that's it.
I heard that they can't do anything until its clear that you're not paying for the item (walking past the register). I'm sure they'll nab you though if you shove something in your pants. I also heard that they can't chase you past the sidewalk into the street or something. Cause then you can sue them if you get hit by a car or some shit.
WalMart, or any store? Because if you are walking into any store thinking that they'll wait until you run out, and then only chase you to the parking lot, you are sadly mistaken. Some LP's will chase you as far as they physically can, which can sometimes be farther than you can go. It's also not very uncommon for your ass to get tackled. It is legal for a company to use necessary force in order to get their merchandise back. If you get hit by a truck running from an LP, then you just got charged with retail fraud.
I dunno. I remembered reading it somewhere before and I assumed it was for most big chain stores. I can't imagine that they can do much if you didn't leave the store with whatever you're racking. Maybe make you hand over whatever and make you leave.
That's true. One of the employees at K-mart came up to me when I was taking a bitemd out of the package and he goes "Are you planning on buying that?" I told him yes and he asked to come with him but I just went to a cash register and paid for it rather than going with him. If they do try to stop you just play dumb, it will get you out of most situations.. Don't tag the stuff inside the store where they keep markers unless its some sort of art store and don't leave empty merchandise boxes laying around cause then they know what people are stealing..
LPs might chase you but most are like 60+ years old or big gnarly looking black girls who wont get up off there lil LP greeter stool for anything
my friends work at walmart and if they see anyone stealing even if its shoving shit down their pants they are trained to be "extra friendly" and just ask you if you need a carriage or some shit, it isnt stealing until you leave the store
You don't have to take things out of the box I would even say it's a bad idea. It makes it a lot easier for them to tell you stole something, and makes it more likely for them to charge you (they can still sell unopened merchandise. Once you open it they can't).
I walked into family dollar and racked a bag of cans today while my mom shopped for her shit , and racking markers with cups of water is mad easy. cans make so much fucking noise >:|,at my wal mart cans of workable black and white are 99 cents , so if i try to rack 20 of em they cant do shit to me?
i just walk into the regular home town stores like Osh (not home depot or walmart noy the big time stores) with basketball shorts on and a t shirt and then a sports knapsack acting like i just got back from practice. I give the lady a warm smile and ask how shes doing only if she is looking at me though. If she doesnt see me i try to make her not notice me. Walk into the back fill my sack up with cans and peel off the stickers then walk out slowly so the peas dont rattle. I walk up to the cash register and pick up like a candy bard are sumthing and pay for that then leave.
1. This is probably your first time racking paint. I suggest taking only one or two cans the first time. A big haul when you aren't ready for it will make you nervous as fuck, and it shows. 2. Why the fuck would you take off the stickers? They make no difference 3. If you have enough time to peel the stickers off, I would suggest skipping the first can. No one has picked it up, so the pigment has settled around the pea. 4. I never understand why anyone ever does this; Don't bother buying a candy bar. Walking out of the store without buying something doesn't send off some big alert that you stole something, people do it all the time. and if she DID see you taking something, getting in a line is just going to make it harder to get out. 5. Don't bother making plans, you can't predict what other people are going to do, there are too many variables. Just go with the flow and stay chill.
Picking up the candy bar at the end if anything will make it more suspicios becuase if its a small store she will have notcied you walked around the store (to get to the cans) then came back up with nothing. idk just a thought. and also dont say it will be like you didnt find what you were looking for becuase if you didnt you wouldnt just settle on a candy bar
Some stores have sensors on the stickers and you could set the alarm off if the clerk doesnt ring it up. Thats why. And when your one of the only ones in the store with maybe 3 or 4 other people who arent in line yet, then yes it does make since. How many kids do you see walking into a hardware store by themselves? If it was home depot or walmart or target then it would be a different story.
