Wings- I think when you do a background you need to ask yourself what the relevance is. Tie it to the piece, either as a theme or a style. How does a a country scene relate to your piece?

Look at the colors of the background then take a look at the piece.
The whole point was for a volcano with rocks flying towards the piece. This was my goal, the woods were just add ons. But it would to bare with just a couple trees so I made a tiny forest And a lake.

 

Obviously I can see you used the same colours in the piece as in the background but the piece is just floating there. It has no relevance to the background (even though you used the same markers) they could be two different pictures nothing would be gained or lost splitting the two. The piece is not enhanced by the back ground nor is the back ground enhanced by the piece. If you wanted to tie the two together maybe shatter a letter with one of the flying pieces?? That way the two tie in together. Maybe I am just critical because I liked your piece more before you did the background Don't mean to offend.

Seyo...Virus' crit prettty much summed it up...I'd just leave some of yours as just outlines in black or single color fills until you can get your hands on some markers maybe?

^if the E is capital then you need to make the top bar bigger so that its easier to see that, and if its lower case i feel that there should be at least a dot for the hole in the top part, or a line or something.
